CARE CHEST OF SIERRA NEVADA IS A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES FREE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES, PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE, INDEPENDENT LIVING HOME MODIFICATIONS, LIQUID NUTRITION AND OTHER VITAL RESOURCES TO NORTHERN NEVADANS IN NEED. SINCE ITS INCEPTION 30 YEARS AGO, CARE CHEST HAS PROVIDED MORE THAN 250,000 UNIQUE CLIENT SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION IS A MULTI-SERVICE AGENCY RECOGNIZED THROUGHOUT NORTHERN NEVADA BY AREA HOSPITALS, LOW INCOME CLINICS, AND SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES AS AN ESSENTIAL MEDICAL RESOURCE FOR NORTHERN NEVADA'S UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS. THE GOAL OF CARE CHEST'S PROGRAMMING IS TO EMPOWER INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN NEED TO LIVE HEALTHIER, MORE INDEPENDENT AND PRODUCTIVE LIVES. CARE CHEST'S PROGRAMS AND SERVICES REMOVE THE BARRIERS FACED BY LACK OF ACCESS TO MEDICAL RESOURCES BY DISTRIBUTING DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, OFFERING ASSISTANCE WITH PRESCRIPTIONS, PROVIDING DIABETIC RESOURCES AND SUPPLIES AND HELPING THOSE AT GREATEST RISK OF INSTITUTIONALIZATION REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES LONGER. SPECIALIZED MODIFICATIONS THROUGH THE INDEPENDENT LIVING AND CARE LOAN PROGRAMS PREVENT FALLS, DECREASE THE OCCURRENCES OF SECONDARY COMPLICATIONS, INCREASE MOBILITY AND MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO FAMILIES TO BETTER TAKE CARE OF THEIR LOVED ONES IN THEIR HOMES LONGER.
