IN 2023 MUSICA VITALE (INCLUDING CROWN CITY CHORALE) GAVE 8 PUBLIC PERFORMANCES AND 5 SCHOOL PROGRAMS. BEING GREATLY ATTUNED TO SOCIAL LANDSCAPE AND THE WORLDS HAPPENINGS, MUSICA VITALE PRODUCED AN EVENT DURING WOMENS HISTORY MONTH ON 19 MARCH 2023, CELEBRATING WOMEN IN THE ARTS. WE COLLABORATED WITH LOCAL VISUAL ARTISTS AND INTERNATIONAL MUSICIANS, INCLUDING UKRAINIAN CONCERT PIANIST ANNA VOLYNSKA; ARMENIAN VIOLINIST NONNA GHUKASYAN, WHO RESIDES IN MEXICO; AND UKRAINIAN ACCOMPANIST OLENA GALYTSKA. MICHAEL SOKOL AND ANGELINA REAUX, THE STARS OF THE SHOW, HAVE PERFORMED ON BROADWAY AND WITH THE METROPOLITAN OPERA. THROUGHOUT THE CONCERT, THE LECTURERS SHARED FACTS ABOUT THE LIVES OF WOMEN COMPOSERS AND POETS, BOTH PAST AND PRESENT.THE NEWLY CREATED COMMUNITY CHOIR, CROWN CITY CHORALE, WHICH TAKES RESIDENCE UNDER THE EDUCATION WING OF MUSICA VITALE, ALSO TOOK PART IN THIS EVENT. THE EVENT WAS ENTHUSIASTICALLY RECEIVED BY THE GROUP OF 100 PATRONS IN THE GRAND ROOM OF JOHN D. SPRECKELS CENTER, CORONADO. WE CONCLUDED OUR PERFORMING SEASON WITH A PROGRAM OF SACRED MUSIC WITH THE ORGAN, MOSTLY FRENCH, IN COLLABORATION WITH MARTIN GREEN, ONE OF THE MOST SOUGHT-AFTER ORGANISTS IN THE COUNTY AND CANON FOR MUSIC AT ST. PAULS EPISCOPAL CATHEDRAL. THE VENUE ATTRACTED A GROUP OF 250 PATRONS WITH BOTH CORONADO AND SAN DIEGO RESIDENTS. SCHOOL PROGRAMS WERE A HUGE SUCCESS THIS YEAR, AS ALWAYS. FIVE SCHOOLS ON THE ISLAND OPENED THEIR DOORS TO MUSICA VITALE AND ITS SHORTER VERSION OF CELEBRATING WOMEN IN THE ARTS PROGRAM WITH PARTICIPATION OF PROFESSIONAL SINGERS, A PIANIST, AND A LECTURER. WE REACHED, PERFORMED FOR, EDUCATED, AND ENTERTAINED OVER 500 CHILDREN ON THE ISLAND. THE CONCERT SEASON IN FALL OF 2023 BEGAN WITH THE VETERANS DAY TRIBUTE- A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT BETWEEN CORONADO COMMUNITY CHOIR, CORONADO CONCERT BAND AND MUSICA VITALE. THE CONCERT TOOK PLACE IN GRANZER HALL OF MIDDLE SCHOOL, CORONADO ON NOVEMBER 11TH. PATRIOTIC SONGS ACCOMPANIED BY A CONCERT BAND AND MOVING STORIES OF THE RETIRED NAVY MEMBERS AND NAVY WIVES LIFTED THE SPIRITS OF THE AUDIENCE OF TWO HUNDRED. THE EVENT WAS FREE TO THE PUBLIC, SUPPORTED IN PART BY CORONADO ARTS COMMISSION. THE YEAR CONCLUDED WITH TWO PERFORMANCES OF THE MULTICULTURAL PROGRAM WITH MUSIC FOR THE WINTER SEASON: UKRAINIAN, ESTONIAN, FRENCH, RUSSIAN AND ARMENIAN SACRED AND SECULAR CHORAL AND INSTRUMENTAL WORKS, AS WELL AS SAINTS SAENS ORATORIO DE NOEL. TWO CONCERTS IN TWO VENUES BROUGHT TOGETHER OVER SIX HUNDRED LISTENERS. THE CROWN CITY CHORALE PERFORMED CONTEMPORARY AND TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT THE RESURRECTION LUTHERAN CHURCH, CORONADO AND AT THE NAZARETH HOUSE OF ASSISTED LIVING. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HELD A SECOND ANNUAL COMMUNITY SUMMER SING ALONG AT THE CORONADO LIBRARY IN THE MONTH OF JULY- A FREE EVENT FOR PUBLIC.
