NEW LEASH ON LIFE USA RESCUES DOGS FROM SHELTERS AND TAKES THEM TO PRISONS. THE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO EMPOWER JUSTICE-INVOLVED PEOPLE TO THRIVE BY HELPING THEM OVERCOME BARRIERS TO OPPOTUNITY THROUGH CASE MANAGEMENT AND TAILORED, WHOLE PERSON SERVICES THAT SUPPORT A SUCCESSFUL REETRY INTO SOCIETY, PUTTING AN END TO THE CYCLE OF INCARCERATION AND GUN VIOLENCE. RECIDIVISM RATE FOR NEW LEASH GRADUATES IS APPROXIMATLEY 10%, COMPARED TO THE 33% ONE YEAR RECIDIVISM RATE OF THE GENERAL PRISON POPULATION IN PHILADELPHIA. SINCE THE PROGRAM STARTED IN AUGUST 2011 NEW LEASH ON LIFE USA HAS RESCUED AND ADOPTED OVER 250 DOGS AND OVER 500 PARTICIPANTS HAVE GRADUATED FROM THE PROGRAM, WITH OVER 100 EMPLOYED FULLTIME.
