AWARENESS AND EDUCATION: MMCF IS COMMITTED TO EDUCATING AND PROMOTING PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT OSTEOSARCOMA AND PEDIATRIC CANCERS. MMCF SPONSORS AN ANNUAL PEDIATRIC CANCER AWARENESS WALK; CONDUCTS TRAINING SESSIONS FOR MEDICAL PERSONNEL REGARDING THE IMPACT OF CANCER ON THE ENTIRE FAMILY SYSTEM; MAINTAINS AN ONLINE RESOURCE CENTER THAT OFFERS MATERIALS AND LINKS TO INFORMATION REGARDING PEDIATRIC CANCERS. AS WELL AS A HANDBOOK THAT OUTLINES HOW TO NAVIGATE THROUGH A HOSPITAL SYSTEM FROM TIME OF DIAGNOSIS THROUGH TREATMENT; HOSTS SPECIAL DAY/HOLIDAY- THEMED ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN IN A HOSPITAL SETTING, COORDINATED WITH HOSPITAL STAFF (I.E. CHILDLIFE, AND ART THERAPISTS) AND PROVIDES ACCESS TO INFORMATIONAL RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES ATTENDING THESE EVENTS.


AVOCACY: MMCF ACTIVELY ADVOCATES FOR GREATER ATTENTION, FOCUS, AND FUNDING FOR PEDIATRIC CANCER RESEARCH AS WELL AS LEGISLATIVE BILLS AND CHANGES TO OUR GOVERNMENT TO HELP FIGHT THESE DISEASES AND ADDRESS THE ISSUES PREVENTING OR SLOWING US FROM MAKING GREATER PROGRESS TOWARDS A CURE. MMCF TALKS REGARDLY WITH MEMBERS OF CONGRESS AND THEIR OFFICES AND WORK WITH OTHER ASSOCIATIONS AND GROUPS WHO SHARE THE COMMITMENT AND PASSION FOR FINDING AN END TO PEDIATRIC CANCER.


PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT: MMCF WORKS CLOSELY WITH FAMILIES WHO ARE IN CRISIS, FROM DAY OF DIAGNOSIS THROUGH TREATMENT AND REMISSION OR PALLIATIVE CARE IN CONJUNCTION WITH LOCAL PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY TREATMENT CENTERS TO HELP ASSESS THE PSYCHOSOCIAL NEEDS OF FAMILIES WAS THEIR CHILDREN FIGHT AGAINST THESE DISEASES.
