REDDING LOAVES AND FISHES, A CHRISTIAN MINISTRY ESTABLISHED MORE THAN 20 YEARS AGO TO PROVIDE FOOD FOR THE NEEDY OF SHASTA COUNTY OPERATES TWO FOOD BANKS. REDDING LOAVES AND FISHES FOOD BANK SERVED A TOTAL OF 2056 HOUSEHOLDS DURING THE YEAR 2021. THE FOOD BANK CONTINUTED TO BE OPEN FOR DISTRIBTUION ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY MORNINGS DURING THE YEAR. DUE TO THE COVID LOCK DOWN INITIALLY THE PROCEDURE OF DISTRIBUTION WAS CHANGED TO PASSING OUR BAGS AND FOOD AT THE DOOR IN LIEU OF HAVING TO CLOSE THE PROGRAM ENTIRELY. THAT CHANGE IN PROCESS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CONTINUING MANDATES RESULTED IN A REDUCTION IN THE NUMBER OF CLIENTS FROM PREVIOUS YEARS. THE FOOD BANK WILL CONTINUE TO BE OPEN FOR THOSE IN NEED IN SHASTA COUNTY REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS.
