INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY: THE FOUNDATION DOES MANY THINGS ON BEHALF OF THE INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY (ICP), A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PROMOTES THE WORK OF THE CONCERNED PHOTOGRAPHER AND EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT THE MOST IMPORTANT IDEAS AND CAUSES OF OUR TIME. ACTIVITIES, LIKE SPONSORING EVENTS AND DINNERS TO CULTIVATE NEW DONORS, VARY FROM YEAR TO YEAR, BUT EACH YEAR, SINCE 2013, WE HAVE FUNDED AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCED A SERIES OF DOCUMENTARY FILMS ABOUT THE WINNERS OF ICP'S ANNUAL INFINITY AWARDS, SHOWCASING THE ARTISTS AND THE IMPORTANT WORK IN PHOTOGRAPHY AND PHOTOJOURNALISM THAT ONLY CONTINUES BECAUSE OF ORGANIZATIONS LIKE ICP.
MAUI DOLPHIN PROJECT: MAUI DOLPHINS, ENDEMIC TO NEW ZEALAND, ARE LISTED BY THE INTERNATIONAL UNION FOR CONSERVATION OF NATURE AS CRITICALLY ENDANGERED. WITH MARINE MAMMAL EXPERTS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGON, CONDUCTED SMALL-VESSEL PHOTOGRAPHIC SURVEYS TO IDENTIFY UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL DOLPHINS AS A METHOD TO ESTIMATE THE ABUNDANCE OF THESE CETACEANS AND HELP INFORM THREAT MANAGEMENT PLANS.
RWANDA GIRLS INITIATIVE: SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE GASHORA GIRLS ACADEMY, FOUNDED BY THE NOT-FOR PROFIT RWANDA GIRLS INITIATIVE, THE FOUNDATION HAS BEEN THERE WITH FILM CAMERAS, DOCUMENTING THE PROGRESS OF THE SCHOOL AND THE GIRLS THEREIN. FROM THE GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY TO THE FIRST GRADUATION TO THE FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE, WE HAVE PRODUCED SHORT FILMS TO INSPIRE SUPPORT AT ANNUAL FUNDRAISING BANQUETS. AS THE YEARS PROGRESS, WE PLAN TO WEAVE THE LONGITUDINAL STORY INTO A FULL-LENGTH DOCUMENTARY FILM SUPPORTING THE NOTION THAT EDUCATING GIRLS CAN HAVE A PROFOUND EFFECT ON THE GROWTH AND WELL-BEING OF DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.
