THE MISSION OF COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP OF MERCER COUNTY IS TO HELP PEOPLE HELP THEMSELVES THROUGH LEADERSHIP IN COMMUNITY PARTNERING THAT PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO LIVE WITH DECENCY AND DIGNITY.

HEADSTART -- THE COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP OF MERCER COUNTY IS THE GRANTEE AGENCY FOR THE COUNTY'S EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. THESE PROGRAMS ARE SUBCONTRACTED TO THE FARRELL AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT AND OPERATE COUNTY-WIDE.TWO PROGRAMS ARE FEDERAL PROGRAMS, WHICH ARE HEAD START SERVING CHILDREN 3-5 YEARS OF AGE, (342 CHILDREN); AND EARLY HEADSTART SERVING CHILDREN 0-3 AND PREGNANT MOMS, (120 CHILDREN AND 9 PREGNANT MOMS).TWO PROGRAMS ARE STATE PROGRAMS, WHICH ARE HEAD START SUPPLEMENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SERVING CHILDREN 3-5 YEARS, (SERVED 83 CHILDREN) AND PRE K COUNTS SERVING CHILDREN 3-5 YEARS (SERVED 101 CHILDREN). FEDERAL AND STATE HEAD START PROGRAMS AND EARLY HEAD START ALL SERVE FAMILIES WITH INCOMES OF 100% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL, AND THE PRE K COUNTS SERVES FAMILIES WITH INCOMES UP TO 300% OF THE FEDERAL PROVERTY LEVEL.
WEATHERIZATION -- THE COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP OF MERCER COUNTY USED THE GRANT FUNDS FOR HOME WEATHERIZATION IN MERCER AND BUTLER COUNTIES. THE PROJECT PROVIDED WEATHERIZATION OF 402 HOMES USING BOTH FEDERAL AND STATE RESOURCES. WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED TO THOSE HOUSEHOLDS LIVING AT 200% OR LESS OF THE POVERTY LEVEL AND INCLUDES CLIENT OWNED HOMES, AS WELL AS RENTAL UNITS.
HOUSING SERVICES -- THE COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP OF MERCER COUNTY IS A CERTIFIED HUD HOUSING COUNSELING AGENCY. THEY PROVIDE HUD HOUSING COUNSELING SERVICES UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE MON VALLEY INITIATIVE, THE PENNSYLVANIA HOUSING FINANCE AGENCY AND THE CITY OF SHARON.SPECIAL NEEDS HOUSING -- THEY ALSO OWN AND MANAGE 25 UNITS OF SPECIAL NEEDS HOUSING AT ELEVEN LOCATIONS.MENTAL HEALTH HOUSING -- 10 UNITS AT FOUR LOCATIONS FOR PERSONS WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES.SINGLE FAMILY RENTAL HOUSING -- THE AGENCY PROVIDES DECENT, SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR 12 FAMILIES. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO FAMILIES WHO WISH TO PURCHASE THE HOME THEY ARE RENTING.SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR VETERAN FAMILIES (SSVF)--ASSISTANCE TO VETERANS EXPERIENCING A HOUSING CRISIS. 24 PEOPLE OBTAINED OR MAINTAINED SAFE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
