TO PROMOTE THE MUSICAL ARTS IN FAIRBANKS AND THROUGHOUT ALASKA BY PERFORMING SYMPHONIC MUSIC OF THE HIGHEST CALIBER AND BY OFFERING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES DESIGNED TO TRAIN NEW MUSICIANS, CULTIVATE MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE AND FOSTER INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT AND MUSIC APPRECIATION.

CONCERT PRODUCTION-THE ALL VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA PRESENTS SIX CONCERTS ANNUALLY. FOUR CONCERTS FEATURE A RENOWNED GUEST ARTIST, ONE CONCERT FEATURES THE WINNERS OF THE ANNUAL CONCERTO COMPETITION (SEE EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS) AND ONE HOLIDAY CONCERT FEATURES LOCAL CHOIRS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON. ALL CONCERTS ARE PEROFORMED WITH THE ORCHESTRA. GUEST ARTISTS ALSO PERFORM RECITALS, MASTER CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS AS POSSIBLE.
EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS-THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THROUGH THE ANNUAL CONCERTO COMPETITION, CHILDREN'S CONCERT (ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS ARE BUSSED TO THE CONCERT HALL TO HEAR A SYMPHONY PERFORMANCE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THEM), SYMPHONY IN THE SCHOOLS (SYMPHONY MUSICIANS COACH YOUNG MUSICIANS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS), THE FAIRBANKS SUZUKI INSTITUTE (A WEEK LONG WORKSHOP FOR MUSICIANS AND TEACHERS STUDYING THE SUZUKI METHOD), FAIRBANKS YOUTH ORCHESTRA, NORTH STAR STINGS, AND KIDZ2CONCERTS (PROVIDING CONCERT TICKETS FOR STUDENTS TO ATTEND SYMPHONY CONCERTS), SUMMER MUSIC ACADEMY (A 2 WEEK MUSIC CAMP FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS BOTH INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL).
