TO PRESENT A BROAD RANGE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY CHAMBER MUSIC ENSEMBLES AND ARTISTS, AND PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH TO FURTHER CHAMBER MUSIC IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE WELCOME EVERYONE AND HONOR OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN ALL ASPECTS OF THIS ENDEAVOR.

FRIENDS OF CHAMBER MUSIC TYPICALLY PRESENTS 22-28 CONCERTS AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES FROM OCTOBER THROUGH MAY, FEATURING THE VERY FINEST CHAMBER ENSEMBLES IN THE WORLD, BOTH WORLD-RENOWNED AND YOUNG, EMERGING ARTISTS. PROGRAMS INCLUDE: (1) A CLASSIC SERIES THAT OFFERS 5 ENSEMBLES IN 10 CONCERTS EACH SEASON (PREDOMINANTLY STRING QUARTETS AND PIANO TRIOS); (2) A NOT SO CLASSIC SERIES THAT OFFERS 2-4 NON-TRADITIONAL, CONTEMPORARY, OR ALTERNATIVE ENSEMBLES; (3) A VOCAL ARTS SERIES THAT OFFERS 2-4 ENSEMBLES OR RECITALISTS; (4) AN EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAM THAT OFFERS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH ACTIVITIES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AS WELL AS VARIOUS COMMUNITY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES; AND (5) A SERIES OF 20-25 FUNDRAISING EVENTS CALLED DINNER WITH FRIENDS. FRIENDS OF CHAMBER MUSIC (FOCM) WAS NOT ABLE TO PRESENT ANY LIVE CONCERTS IN FISCAL YEAR 2021, BUT DID PRESENT 10 VIRTUAL CONCERTS, WHICH WERE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, AND ONE VIRTUAL CONCERT THAT WAS AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY TO STRADIVARIUS SOCIETY MEMBERS. TOTAL VIEWS OF THE VIRTUAL CONCERTS WERE APPROXIMATELY 11,660. IN ADDITION, FRIENDS OF CHAMBER MUSIC PRESENTED SIX VIRTUAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES: TAMBUCO PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE CONDUCTED A VIRTUAL MASTER CLASS WITH PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND TAMBUCO'S LEADER RICARDO GALLARDO MADE HIMSELF AVAILABLE FOR AN HOUR-LONG "VIRTUAL HANGOUT" WITH METROPOLITAN YOUTH SYMPHONY'S RAUL GOMEZ. ALL FOUR MEMBERS OF THE FAURE PIANO QUARTET ALSO HAD AN HOUR-LONG "VIRTUAL HANGOUT" WITH RAUL GOMEZ. RACHEL BARTON PINE PERFORMED A LECTURE DEMONSTRATION FOR PORTLAND YOUTH PHILHARMONIC MUSICIANS, AND FOCM ARRANGE FOR LOCAL RETIRED MUSIC CRITIC DAVID STABLER TO BE A GUEST LECTURER AT ARTS & COMMUNICATION MAGNET ACADEMY, BEFORE THE STUDENTS WATCHED THE VIRTUAL CONCERT OF TAMBUCO AND WROTE THEIR OWN REVIEWS. WE ALSO OFFERED VIRTUAL PRE-CONCERT LECTURES BEFORE THE RICHARD GOODE AND SARAH SHAFER VIRTUAL CONCERTS. DUE TO PANDEMIC CONCERNS, NO DINNER WITH FRIENDS WERE OFFERED IN FISCAL YEAR 2021.
