SEASON: EACH SEASON, MONTEREY SYMPHONY PERFORMS MAJOR WORKS BY GREAT COMPOSERS, LESSER-KNOWN WORKS BY THEM AND THEIR CONTEMPORARIES, WORKS BY LIVING COMPOSERS AND POPULAR MUSIC THAT USES SYMPHONIC INSTRUMENTATION.COVID-19INSTEAD OF BREAKING UP THE 2020-2021 SEASON DUE TO COVID-19, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR NICOLA REILLY AND THE SYMPHONY'S BARD DECIDED TO "MAINTAIN ARTISTIC INTEGRITY,X AND SHIFT THE SEASON AN ENTIRE YEAR.FOR WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ITS 75TH SEASON, MONTEREY SYMPHONY ANNOUNCED ON JULY 6, 2020 THAT ITS 2020-2021 PERFORMANCES WILL BE SHIFTED AN ENTIRE YEAR. THE ANNOUNCEMENT
COMES ON THE HEELS OF AN ANOTHER, IN WHICH THE SYMPHONY STATED IT WILL BE ABLE TO PAY ITS MUSICIANS FOR MISSED WORK BECAUSE OF MONEY RECEIVED THROUGH A TRUST.DURING A REGULAR (NON-COVID 19 YEAR), MONTEREY SYMPHONY PERFORMS MUSIC THAT HAS BOTH PUBLIC APPEAL AND INTELLECTUAL MERIT. THIS INCLUDES SELECTING A REPERTOIRE IN OUR PATRONS' "COMFORT ZONE," AS MONTEREY SYMPHONY ACTIVELY SEEKS WAYS TO ENLARGE THAT ZONE. MONTEREY SYMPHONY PROVIDES ADVANCE MATERIALS AND INFORMATION WHICH ENABLE ITS PATRONS TO ENHANCE THEIR CONCERT-GOING EXPERIENCE. MONTEREY SYMPHONY ENGAGES GUEST ARTISTS WHO ILLUMINATE THE MUSIC THROUGH THEIR INTERPRETIVE SKILLS AND VIRTUOSITY.
MONTEREY SYMPHONY MONITORS ITS TRADITIONAL CONCERT HALLS TO ENSURE THAT THE CONCERT EXPERIENCE FOR BOTH PERFORMERS AND AUDIENCE MEETS OPTIMAL STANDARDS.
