THE COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION FOR HOME CARE (CAHC) SEEKS TO PROMOTE THE DELIVERY OF HIGH QUALITY HOME CARE SERVICES TO OUR COMMUNITIES BY DEVELOPING STANDARDS, EVALUATING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STANDARDS, ACCREDITING AGENCIES THAT ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THESE STANDARDS AND PROVIDING INDUSTRY AND CONSUMER EDUCATION.THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE ACCREDITATION PROGRAMS, COMPANION/PERSONAL CARE AND COMMUNITY BASED SKILLED NURSING SERVICES. THESE PROGRAMS ARE INDEPENDENT OF EACH OTHER. A PROVIDER MAY SEEK ACCREDITATION FOR EITHER OR BOTH SERVICES.THE COMPANION/PERSONAL CARE AND COMMUNITY BASED SKILLED NURSING SERVICES ACCREDITED BY CAHC ARE INTENDED TO PROVIDE PATIENTS WITH NEEDED CARE AT HOME AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO STAYS IN FACILITIES SUCH AS HOSPITALS OR NURSING HOMES. ALL SUCH SERVICES ARE SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH STATE LAWS AND REGULATIONS AND THE CAHC ACCREDITATION PROGRAM, REGARDLESS OF HOW THE SERVICES ARE BEING PAID FOR.CAHC ACCREDITED AGENCIES HAVE CHOSEN TO ENHANCE THEIR QUALITY OF SERVICE BY COMMITTING TO STANDARDS BASED ON ESTABLISHED BEST PRACTICES IN THE HOME CARE FIELD. THIS COMMITMENT TO ENSURING QUALITY CARE IS REFLECTED IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE AGENCY'S OPERATION. THE COMMISSION MONITORS COMPLIANCE WITH THESE STANDARDS THROUGH ANNUAL SITE VISITS BY EXPERIENCED RN FIELD NURSE SURVEYORS. AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2021, THERE ARE 368 SITES ACCREDITED FOR PERSONAL CARE SERVICES AND 19 SITES FOR SKILLED NURSING. THERE ARE 19 SITES WITH DUAL ACCREDITATION.
