MEALS ON WHEELS IN METUCHEN-EDISON-WOODBRIDGE PROVIDES AND DELIVERS MEALS TO HOMEBOUND SENIOR CITIZENS. PREPARED FOOD IS PROVIDED BY JFK HOSPITAL IN EDISON, WHERE OUR ORGANIZATION EMPLOYS TWO PART-TIME FOOD PACKERS. A HOT MEAL, HOT SOUP, AND COLD ITEMS (SANDWICH, SLICE OF BREAD, MARGARINE, MILK, FRUIT, ETC.) ARE DELIVERED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY (EXCLUDING HOLIDAYS) BY APPROXIMATELY 130 VOLUNTEERS, USING THEIR OWN VEHICLES. WE NEVER STOPPED DELIVERING MEALS DURING THE PANDEMIC AND CONTINUE TO DO SO. ALL OUR EMPLOYEES AND VOLUNTEERS FOLLOWED CDC GUIDELINES (MASKING, SOCIAL DISTANCING, ETC.) DURING THIS TIME. VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT ALLOWED INTO JFK HOSPITAL. INSTEAD, OUR PAID PACKERS BRING THE HOT AND COLD CONTAINERS OUTSIDE TO VOLUNTEER VEHICLES. AFTER VOLUNTEERS COMPLETE DELIVERIES, THE FOOD PACKER COMES OUTSIDE TO RETRIEVE EMPTY HOT/COLD CONTAINERS.
