THE ORGANIZATION RAISES MONEY THROUGH SALES AT A THRIFT SHOP. FUNDS ARE DISTRIBUTED EACH YEAR TO INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY. THE COMMUNITY CLOSET SERVES THE ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED RURAL AREA OF PARK COUNTY, MONTANA. GOALS OF THE ORGANIZATION INCLUDE MAKING CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS AVAILABLE TO INDIVIDUALS AT A GREATLY REDUCED PRICE AND KEEPING TONS OF REUSEABLE GOODS OUT OF THE LANDFILL. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO ATTEMPTS TO RECYCLE OR REPURPOSE ITEMS THAT ARE UNSALEABLE.

RAISE FUNDS THROUGH OPERATING A THRIFT STORE TO DONATE TO LOCAL CHARITIES IN PARK COUNTY MONTANA. SINCE INCEPTION, THE ORGANIZATION HAS DONATED OVER 868,000 TO VARIOUS NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. A PARTIAL LIST OF THESE NONPROFITS INCLUDE FRIENDS OF THE COMMUNITY, THE SHANE LALANICENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS, STAFFORD ANIMAL SHELTER, LINKS FOR LEARNING, COMMUNITY SCHOOL COLLABORATIVE, BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS, HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL, PARK COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION,THE LIVINGSTON FOOD PANTRY, ETC. THE FUNDS RAISED BY THE THRIFT SHOP ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE TOTAL FUNDING RECEIVED BY MANY OF THESE NONPROFITS. THE COMMUNITY CLOSET HAS AN ABILITY TO QUICKLY FUND PROGRAMS WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS. TWO OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS ARE PROVIDING CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS AT REDUCED RATES TO LOCAL HOUSEHOLDS, AS WELL AS KEEPING HUNDREDS OF TONS OF TRASH FROM LANDFILLS THROUGH RE-USE AND RECYCLING. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES TWO LOCATIONS IN DOWNTOWN LIVINGSTON. IN ADDITION TO THE MAIN THRIFT CENTER A SECOND LOCATION CURATES HIGHER-END GOODS IN A MORE TYPICAL RETAIL STORE ATMOSPHERE. THE ORGANIZATION WAS ABLE TO GIVE OUT 128,000 IN GRANTS TO COMMUNITY NONPROFITS IN 2023.
