GOODWILL STRIVES TO INCREASE SELF SUFFICIENCY OF ITS PARTICIPANTS THROUGH VOCATIONAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND OFFERING EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO DISABLED OR DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS, WHO CANNOT READILY BE ABSORBED IN THE COMPETITIVE LABOR MARKET. GOODWILL STRIVES TO ASSIST SUCH INDIVIDUALS TO ATTAIN THE FULLEST DEVELOPMENT OF WHICH THEY ARE CAPABLE.

GOODWILL OPERATES 17 RETAIL STORES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC IN OMAHA (10), FREMONT (1), BLAIR (1), GRETNA (1), BELLEVUE (1), PAPILLION (2), AND COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA (1). THE GENERAL PUBLIC DONATES CLOTHING, FURNITURE AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS TO GOODWILL. GOODWILL EMPLOYEES SORT, PRICE AND DISTRIBUTE MERCHANDISE FOR SALE IN THE RETAIL STORES. MERCHANDISE THAT DOES NOT SELL WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME IN THE STORES IS TRANSFERRED TO THE GOODWILL WAREHOUSE STORE WHERE IT IS OFFERED FOR SALE AT A SPECIFIED PRICE PER POUND. GOODS DETERMINED NOT TO BE SALEABLE IN THE GOODWILL STORES ARE "SALVAGED AND SOLD TO THIRD PARTIES, WHO EITHER SHIP AND SELL THE GOODS TO THIRD PARTIES OR RECYCLE THEM FOR THEIR TEXTILE, METAL OR OTHER RECYCLABLE MATERIALS. GOODWILL PROFITS GENERATED FROM THE SALE OF DONATED GOODS HELP COVER EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH GOODWILL'S MISSION PROGRAMS THAT SERVE THE COMMUNITY.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SERVICES - GOODWILL PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER SERVICES, JOB PLACEMENT AND POST-EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AND OTHER CHALLENGES TO EMPLOYMENT SO THEY CAN FIND AND KEEP JOBS. INDIVIDUALS RECEIVE TRAINING AND EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT AND FOLLOW-UP SERVICES THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS. GOODWILL PROGRAMS STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY BY FORMING A PATHWAY TOWARDS SUCCESS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND OR MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT ON THEIR OWN.
