Part 3 - Line 4a
OUTREACH: THE B4BC EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH TOUR IS ON THE ROAD 10 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR WITH A TRAVELING OUTREACH BOOTH. THE OUTREACH EXPERIENCE INCLUDES PEER-TO-PEER EDUCATION ON HOW TO PERFORM MONTHLY BREAST SELF-EXAMS AND RESEARCH-BASED METHODS ON WAYS TO REDUCE THE RISKS OF THE INITIATION OF BREAST CANCER THROUGH HEALTHY, ACTIVE LIVING. THE TOUR INCLUDES STOPS AT MAJOR LIFESTYLE EVENTS - REPRESENTING THE CORE DEMOGRAPHIC THAT B4BC COMMUNICATES.
CHASING SUNSHINE SURVIVORSHIP RETREATS: B4BC'S CHASING SUNSHINE SURVIVOR RETREATS ARE DESIGNED TO SUPPORT BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS ON THEIR ROAD TO RECOVERY AND WELLNESS. THE RETREAT SCHEDULES CENTER AROUND SNOWBOARDING/SKIING, SURFING, YOGA, NUTRITION, MASSAGE REJUVENATION AND LIFE-SKILLS COACHING FOR BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS IN NEED OF A WELLNESS EXPERIENCE, AS STUDIES CORRELATE THE BENEFITS OF COMPLEMENTARY CARE AND LONG TERM SURVIVORSHIP. TESTIMONIALS BY WOMEN IN THIS COMMUNITY REVEAL THAT THE PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SCARS LEFT BEHIND ARE OFTEN MORE SEVERE THAN THE FIGHT ITSELF. UNFORTUNATELY FOR MOST PATIENTS, THE CURRENT MODEL OF SURVIVOR CARE IS DICTATED BY THEIR HEALTH CARE COVERAGE AND IS LIMITED SOLELY TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AND TREATMENTS. B4BC SEEKS TO ADDRESS THESE NEEDS WITH A PROGRAM THAT PROMOTES HEALING, COMMUNITY, ENHANCES LONG TERM SURVIVORSHIP AND ALLOWS FOR ALL IT SERVES TO THRIVE.
BE HEALTHY, GET ACTIVE, RIDE!: IS AN UMBRELLA CAMPAIGN THAT ENCOMPASSES B4BC'S AMBASSADOR AND TEAM RIDER EDUCATIONAL CONTENT PROGRAM, AS WELL AS B4BC'S SHRED THE LOVE AND SUMMER SKATE SERIES WHICH ARE COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND FUNDRAISING EVENTS THAT ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION IN ACTIVE, LIFESTYLE PURSUITS WHILE CREATING AWARENESS AND RAISING FUNDS FOR B4BC AND LOCAL LIKE MINDED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. SINCE 1998, THE B4BC BOARD-A-THON SERIES HAS GENERATED NATIONWIDE PARTICIPATION AND INCLUDES THE SHRED THE LOVE WINTER SERIES, SKATE THE LAKE AND SKATE THE COAST EVENTS. ASIDE FROM THE EXPENSES TO SUPPORT THESE ACTIVITIES, B4BC STRIVES TO KEEP FUNDS (ROUGHLY 30%) IN THESE LOCAL COMMUNITIES BY DISTRIBUTING GRANTS TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES BY DISTRIBUTING GRANTS TO LOCAL COMMUNITY NON-PROFITS THAT SUPPORTS B4BC'S MISSION.
