SCHOLARSHIPS: CALCPA INSTITUTE AWARDED CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIPS WITH FUNDS RAISED BY THE FOURTEEN CHAPTERS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE TO OVER 205 COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WITHIN CALIFORNIA PURSUING CPA CAREERS FINANCIAL LITERACY: CALCPA INSTITUTE ALSO HELD NUMEROUS FINANCIAL LITERACY WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS ATTENDED BY OVER 1,750 CALIFORNIANS. MEMBERS OF THE CALIFORNIA SOCIETY OF CPAS, THROUGH THE INSTITUTE, ALSO PROVIDED ASSISTANCE BY SHARING THEIR KNOWLEDGE WITH THE PUBLIC THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH STATE LEGISLATORS, ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS AND TELEVISION AND RADIO NEWS SHOWS.
STUDENT OUTREACH: THE CAMPUS AMBASSADOR PROGRAM ESTABLISHES STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES ON VARIOUS COLLEGE CAMPUSES WITH THE GOAL OF BUILDING STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS WITH ACCOUNTING EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS, AS WELL AS PROMOTE THE ACCOUNTING PROFESSIONS AND CPA LICENSURE. "SO YOU WANT TO BE A CPA" AND "FROM COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO CPA" ARE TWO PROGRAMS OFFERED ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES AND VIRTUALLY ACROSS THE STATE. CALCPA INSTITUTE ALSO RUNS THE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACH PROJECT. ITS MAIN GOAL IS TO INCREASE THE AWARENESS OF ACCOUNTING CAREERS AMONG UNDERREPRESENTED AND UNDERSERVED MINORITY STUDENT POPULATIONS THROUGH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. THE PROJECT INVOLVES CLASSROOM VISITS BY CPAS TO SPEAK ABOUT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDING FINANCIAL LITERACY LESSONS TO ENCOURAGE THE PURSUIT OF COLLEGE EDUCATION AS A PATH TO A CPA CAREER. LASTLY, CALCPA INSTITUTE CONTINUES ITS "FROM COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO CPA" A SERIES OF EVENTS SPECIFICALLY TARGETING COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS WITH CPA CAREER INFORMATION.

PARTICIPANTS WILL GROW AS VOLUNTEER AND BUSINESS LEADERS AS THEY FOCUS ON IMPROVING LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOR, AS WELL AS CRITICAL THINKING AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS.
