BIOKANSAS IS THE UNIFIED VOICE REPRESENTING THE BIOSCIENCES IN KANSAS. ACROSS THE HUMAN, PLANT, ANIMAL AND INDUSTRIAL BIOSCIENCES, BIOKANSAS IS FOCUSED ON ENHANCING THE BUSINESS AND RESEARCH CLIMATE AND WORKING WITH LEADERS ACROSS THE STATE TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN BIOSCIENCE TALENT, COMPANIES AND FUNDING.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
INDUSTRY/EDUCATION OUTREACH - ONE OF BIOKANSAS'S PRIMARY FUNCTIONS IS TO SERVE AS THE VOICE OF THE BIOSCIENCE COMMUNITY IN KANSAS. IN PERFORMING THIS FUNCTION, WE CONDUCT FORMAL AND INFORMAL EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH ACTIVITIES. THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE STUDENT OUTREACH, LOCAL NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL POSTER COMPETITIONS, AS WELL AS OUTREACH TO TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND THE PUBLIC.
INDUSTRY PROMOTION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH - BIOKANSAS SERVES AS THE VOICE OF THE BIOSCIENCES COMMUNITY IN KANSAS BY REPRESENTING OUR BIOSCIENCE INDUSTRY AT CONFERENCES AND THROUGH OTHER PUBLIC APPEARANCES AND PRESENTATONS.
ADVOCACY - LIFE SCIENCE AND HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES WORK IN HIGHLY REGULATED ENVIRONMENTS, BUT OFTEN DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONNECT WITH STATE AND FEDERAL POLICYMAKERS. BIOKANSAS WORKS WITH MORE THAN 150 LIFE SCIENCE AND HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS IN THE REGION TO HELP EDUCATE STATE AND FEDERAL LEGISLATORS ON SCIENCE/HEALTHCARE TOPICS.
