RESIDENTIAL SERVICES - ARC OF CHEMUNG'S RESIDENTIAL SERVICES PROGRAM OFFERS A VARIETY OF LIVING ARRANGEMENTS TO OVER 100 INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IN SIXTEEN DIFFERENT SETTINGS THROUGHOUT THE CHEMUNG COUNTY AREA. HOMES ARE LOCATED IN COMMUNITY NEIGHBORHOODS CLOSE TO PARKS, SHOPS, THE TRANSIT SYSTEM, MEDICAL FACILITIES, BANKS AND GYMS. STAFF SUPPORT IN THE VARIOUS RESIDENCES RANGES FROM INTENSIVE CARE TO TRAINING, DEPENDING ON THE INTERESTS AND NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE BEING SERVED. OUR PERSON CENTERED AND COMMUNITY MINDED PHILOSOPHIES ARE EVER PRESENT IN THE DAILY LIVES OF THE PEOPLE WE SERVE. RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO USE THEIR LIVING SITUATIONS TO LEARN SKILLS THAT WILL LEAD TO THEIR INCREASED INDEPENDENCE WHILE LEADING MEANINGFUL AND ENRICHING LIVES.
VOCATIONAL SERVICES - ARC OF CHEMUNG'S VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND JOB PLACEMENT PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORT TO OVER 250 INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WHO DO REAL WORK FOR REAL PAY AND LEARN JOB SKILLS THAT THEY CARRY WITH THEM FOREVER. THE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WITH A NORAMLIZED VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND PLACEMENT ENVIRONMENT, WHICH WILL MAXIMIZE GROWTH THROUGH POSITIVE WORK EXPERIENCES. STAFF DEVELOP INDIVIDUAL WORK PLANS FOR EACH OF THE INDIVIDUALS THAT WE SUPPORT. INDIVIDUAL GROWTH LEADS TO EMPLOYMENT IN A LEAST RESTRICTIVE ENVIRONMENT, EVEN FOR THOSE WITH SUBSTANTIAL EMPLOYMENT CHALLENGES.
NY START - WESTERN FINGER LAKES REGIONNY START OFFERS CRISIS PREVENTION AND RESPONSE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND COMPLEX MENTAL/BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NEEDS. START ALSO OFFERS RELATED CLINICALLY-BASED CONSULTATION AND TRAINING TO ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF THE START PROGRAM IS TO PROMOTE EFFECTIVE CROSS SYSTEM SUPPORTS AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH ID/DD BY CREATING A WELL-TRAINED NETWORK AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL. THE COMPONENTS OF START INCLUDE:* MOBILE CRISIS SUPPORT - A CLINICAL TEAM IS AVAILABLE TO HELP ASSESS AND ADDRESS EMERGENCIES/CRISES IN A TIMELY MANNER - PHONE CONSULTATION OR IN PERSON ASSESSMENT WITHIN 2 HOURS.* CRISIS PLAN DEVELOPMENT - START COORDINATORS WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES AND SERVICE PROVIDERS TO DEVELOP A CROSS-SYSTEM CRISIS PLAN FOR THE INDIVIDUAL. THE PLANNING PROCESS INCLUDES ASSESSING CURRENT SYSTEMS OF CARE, IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL PREVENTIVE AND COPING STRATEGIES FOR THE INDIVIDUAL AND CAREGIVERS, AND AGREEING ON A PROCESS TO ACCESS SUPPORTS.* SYSTEMIC LINKAGES - FACILITATE COMMUNICATION AND AGREEMENTS ACROSS DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY, MENTAL HEALTH, COMMUNITY AND FAMILY NETWORKS.* THERAPEUTIC RESOURCE CENTER SERVICES- IN HOME OR OUT OF HOME THERAPEUTIC SUPPORT SERVICES CAN BE USED FOR ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT PLANNING.* TRAINING -PROVIDE CLINICALLY-INFORMED TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS
