WE SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE AS INDEPENDENTLY AS POSSIBLE, TO BUILD FRIENDSHIPS, PURSUE DREAMS AND CHOOSE HOW THEY SPEND THEIR TIME. SERVICES FOR OUR HOMES IN YORK COUNTY ARE CONTRACTED THROUGH THE YORK MENTAL HEALTH/INTELLECTUAL & DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES PROGRAM. THE OFFICE OF DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMS LICENSES THE HOMES IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 6400 AND CHAPTER 6100 REGULATIONS. SERVICES WE PROVIDE ARE GUIDED BY THE PHILOSOPHY OF EVERYDAY LIVES. THE BASIS OF THIS PHILOSOPHY IS TO ENSURE THE INDIVIDUALS ARE PAVING THEIR OWN WAY IN EVERY ASPECT OF THEIR LIVES.INDIVIDUALS RECEIVE ASSISTANCE WITH LEARNING SKILLS, INCREASING CAPABILITIES, AND ACHIEVING GOALS THAT LEAD TOWARD A MORE MEANINGFUL LIFE. THE PROGRAM HAS 65 INDIVIDUALS THAT RESIDE IN ONE OF OUR 21 COMMUNITY LIVING ARRANGEMENTS.
DAY SUPPORT SERVICES:EMPLOYMENT SUPPORTSOUR EMPLOYMENT SPECIALISTS ARE AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT PEOPLE BY HELPING THEM THROUGH THE DISCOVERY PROCESS VIA COMMUNITY OUTINGS TO FINDING A JOB THAT MATCHES THEIR INTEREST AND TRAINING THAT LEADS TO SUCCESS. EMPLOYMENT SPECIALISTS ENSURE THE JOB IS A GOOD MATCH BOTH WITH SKILL SET AND EMPLOYER CULTURE. CUSTOMIZED EMPLOYMENT AND SUPPORTS LEADS TO POSITIVE OUTCOMES. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 3 PEOPLE BEING SUPPORTED IN JOBS IN THE YORK COMMUNITY. PREVOCATIONAL TRAININGPREVOCATIONAL TRAINING: WE OFFER PREVOCATIONAL TRAINING SUPPORTS WITH OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. OUR SHOPS PROVIDE WORK EXPERIENCE IN A LIGHT INDUSTRIAL SETTING THAT BUSTLES WITH WORK. SHADOWFAX PARTNERS WITH LOCAL AREA BUSINESS AND SPECIALIZING IN HAND PACKAGING AND ASSEMBLY OPERATIONS. THIS PROGRAM ENCOURAGES THE DEVELOPMENT OF LIGHT INDUSTRIAL ATTITUDES, QUALITY, PRODUCTIVITY, AND WORK TOLERANCE CONSISTENT WITH EACH PERSON'S STRENGTHS, INTERESTS AND ABILITY. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 81 PEOPLE IN THIS PROGRAM. COMMUNITY SUPPORTSWE BELIEVE ALL PEOPLE DESERVE THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES AND SAME RESOURCES TO PARTICIPATE IN VARIOUS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, EXPLORING NEW INTERESTS, DEVELOPING MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS, AND INCREASING SKILLS IN EVERYDAY LIVES.STAFF EXPLORE NEW INTERESTS WITH PEOPLE BY GIVING THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRY NEW THINGS. THIS INCLUDES EXERCISE CLASSES, LEARNING ABOUT ANIMALS AND THEIR CARE, VISITING THE LIBRARY, GYM, STORES, CLUBS, SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS, AND MANY MORE. LIFE SKILLS SUPPORTSLIFE SKILL SUPPORTS: EACH PERSON HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED IN ACTIVITIES HE OR SHE ENJOYS. FOR THOSE NOT ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY, WE OFFER PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES IN OUR ONSITE PROGRAMS. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES A HIGH LEVEL OF SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE MORE SIGNIFICANT NEEDS.WHETHER IT BE SPA DAY, COOKING CLASSES, IMPROVING FITNESS AND MOBILITY, PLAYING GAMES, OR RELAXING, OUR STAFF ARE COMMITTED TO ENSURING THE PEOPLE WE SUPPORT HAVE A FUN AND FULFILLING DAY. INDIVIDUALS ENJOY THESE ACTIVITIES AND MORE IN A COMFORTABLE, FRIENDLY, AND STIMULATING ENVIRONMENT. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 57 PEOPLE IN THIS PROGRAM.
