HOUSING PROGRAMS: VIP PROVIDES A SPECTRUM OF HOUSING PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT ACCESS TO SAFE, SUSTAINABLE HOUSING FOR SURVIVORS AND THEIR FAMILIES. OUR HOME+ AND RAPID RE-HOUSING PROGRAMS FOCUS ON HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION OR REDUCTION BY KEEPING SURVIVORS SAFE IN THEIR CURRENT HOMES OR RAPIDLY PLACING THEM IN PRIVATE, PERMANENT HOUSING. IN ORDER TO PROVIDE IMMEDIATE, SAFE REFUGE FROM IMMINENT HARM, VIP ALSO OPERATES THE MORIVIVI SAFE DWELLING PROGRAM PROVIDING EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR SURVIVORS AND CHILDREN AS WELL AS THE CASA SANDRA TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM, PROVIDING LONGER-TERM SHELTER FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED MORE TIME SECURING PERMANENT HOUSING. ALL OF VIP'S HOUSING PROGRAMS COMBINE TO OFFER PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO PREVENT OR END HOMELESSNESS FOR SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE.
COMMUNITY-BASED AND SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS: VIP RUNS COMMUNITY-BASED OFFICES IN QUEENS, BRONX AND MANHATTAN PROVIDING ACCESSIBLE, CONFIDENTIAL SERVICES WITHIN THE NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE WE ARE NEEDED MOST. CULTURALLY SPECIFIC SOCIAL SERVICES PROVIDE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT THROUGH PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL COUNSELING SERVICES IN BOTH INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP SETTINGS. HOLISTIC ADVOCACY AND CASE MANAGEMENT ARE PROVIDED TO ENSURE THAT SURVIVORS GAIN ACCESS TO ALL POSSIBLE ECONOMIC AND HOUSING BENEFITS, AS WELL AS REFERRALS FOR LEGAL, MENTAL HEALTH AND MEDICAL SERVICES NEEDED BY THE SURVIVOR AND THEIR FAMILY. THESE PROGRAMS ALSO DISTRIBUTE FOOD AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO SUPPORT SURVIVORS THROUGH CRISIS. VIP OPERATES SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS THAT GO BEYOND GENERAL CASE MANAGEMENT TO ACHIEVE DEEP, TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE FOR SURVIVORS AND THEIR FAMILIES. OUR ECONOMIC JUSTICE PROGRAM (EJP) PROVIDES CULTURALLY SPECIFIC, INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOPS TO SUPPORT HELPS SURVIVORS TO BUILD FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SKILLS AND ACHIEVE ECONOMIC GOALS, INCLUDING SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION. OUR CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PROGRAM (CAP) PROVIDES PREVENTIVE AND EARLY INTERVENTION THERAPEUTIC SERVICES TO YOUTH IMPACTED BY DOMESTIC, SEXUAL AND OTHER FORMS OF INTERPERSONAL AND COMMUNITY VIOLENCE. WORKING WITH BOTH PARENTS AND YOUTH, CAP SUPPORTS FAMILIES TO BREAK INTERGENERATIONAL CYCLES OF VIOLENCE IN A CULTURALLY AFFIRMING SETTING THAT STRENGTHENS THE PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP. VIP'S SEXUAL VIOLENCE PROGRAM PROVIDES A SURVIVOR-INFORMED MENTAL HEALTH/HEALING MODALITIES FOR LATINA/O/X IMMIGRANT SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AS WELL AS CASE MANAGEMENT. CULTIVATING AN IMMIGRANT-FOCUSED HEALING COMMUNITY ADDRESSING SEXUAL VIOLENCE BRIDGES THE GAP BETWEEN THIS POPULATION AND THE MOMENTUM OF THE #METOO MOVEMENT.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM (CEP):CEP RAISES AWARENESS ABOUT THE DETRIMENTAL IMPACT OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE WHILE PROMOTING ACCESS TO SERVICES, DEVELOPING MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS AND ORGANIZING SURVIVORS TO ESTABLISH THEIR OWN AWARENESS AND ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS. VIP CONDUCTS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WORKSHOPS AND PRESENTATIONS IN SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY CENTERS, SENIOR CENTERS, SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES, FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, AS WELL AS NONTRADITIONAL SETTINGS SUCH AS RESTAURANTS, DOCTOR'S OFFICES AND BEAUTY SALONS THROUGHOUT NEW YORK CITY. OUR PROMOTORAS INITIATIVE INVESTS IN THE LEADERSHIP OF SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE BY TRAINING THEM TO PROVIDE GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND OUTREACH. BUILDING ON EVIDENCE-BASED COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER (PROMOTORA) MODELS, SURVIVORS USE THEIR OWN EXPERIENCES OF HEALING AND EMPOWERMENT TO BRING A POWERFUL ANTIVIOLENCE MESSAGE TO LATINA/O/X COMMUNITIES AND COMMUNITIES OF COLOR. PROMOTORAS ARE ROLE MODELS THAT ARE ABLE TO BRIDGE GAPS AMONG PROVIDERS, CLIENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS, COMMUNITIES AND RESOURCES.
