BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM:OPMAD OFFERS HARTFORD, CT FAMILIES BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE FOR PRE-K THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE THROUGH IT'S ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS. BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED IN SIX AREAS, WHICH ARE ACADEMICS, LIFE SKILLS, CULTURAL/ARTS, RECREATION, SPORTS, AND TECHNOLOGY.IN ADDITION, STUDENTS RECEIVE BREAKFAST AND DINNER THROUGH THE SCHOOL AS PART OF THE PROGRAM. PRESENTLY OPMAD OFFERS IT'S PROGRAMS IN SIX HARTFORD SCHOOLS. APPROXIMATELY 450 STUDENTS WERE ENROLLED DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS CHILDREN THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM COMMUNITY SERVICE AND DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS, EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO LEARNING, AND HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE AND/OR DEVELOP THEIR INTERESTS AND TALENTS, AMONG MANY OTHER BENEFITS. THE PROGRAM ALSO GIVES THE PARENTS OF THE COMMUNITY THE OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME INVOLVED WITH THE SCHOOL, PARTICIPATE IN WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES TO ENABLE THEM TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ENRICHMENT PROGRAM, AND TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE IN THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION.
