PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF SEARLES VALLEY AND SURROUNDING AREAS IN THE UPPER MOJAVE DESERT AREA.ITS PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO BRING TOGETHER PEOPLE INTERESTED IN HISTORY, ESPECIALLY IN THE HISTORY OF SEARLES VALLEY AND SURROUNDING REGIONS FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.

CONTINUED TO MAINTAIN PREVIOUS IMPROVEMENTS ON BUILDINGS AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN THEIR ORIGINAL USE. THE TWO FIRE ENGINES FROM 1924 AND 1938 HAVE CONTINUALLY BEEN REPAIRED FOR PUBLIC DISPLAY. THE FIRE MUSEUM OPENED JUNE, 2015.
A NEW PROGRAM WAS STARTED IN LATE 2015 CALLED THE TRONA PRIDE PRESENTATIONS THE PROGRAM IS EDUCATIONAL IN NATURE AND IS GEARED TOWARDS STUDENTS IN THE PRIMARY GRADES TO INSTILL A SENSE OF PRIDE IN TRONA BY EDUCATING THE LOCAL STUDENTS IN THE HISTORY OF TRONA. THE SECOND WEEKEND IN OCTOBER, SEARLES LAKE GEM AND MINERAL SOCIETY ORGANIZES THEIR ANNUAL GEM AND MINERAL SHOW WHICH IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. SEARLES VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY ALSO PARTAKES IN THIS SHOW BY OPENING THEIR FIRE MUSEUM, CABOOSE AND RAILROAD MUSEUM, THE HISTORY HOUSE AND THE OLD GUEST HOUSE MUSEUM TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE SEARLES VALLEY HISOTRICAL SOCIETY ALSO ENCOURAGES LOCAL SCHOOLS TO VISIT THE HISTORICAL BUILDINGS IN SEARLES VALLEY. A SLIDE SHOW PRESENTATION IS DONE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STUDENTS AS WELL AS OPENING THE MUSEUMS AND THE CABOOSE TO THE STUDENTS. THE TUFA HOUSE YARD WAS CLEANED, TREES ALL TRIMMED AND THE WINDOWS WERE BOARDED UP AND A FENCE WAS PUT UP AROUND THE PROPERTY. A PLAQUE WILL BE PUT UP TO EXPLAIN ABOUT THE TUFA HOUSE AND THE SHED THAT IS LOCATED ON THE PROPERTY. THIS PROPERTY WILL NOT BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC BUT WILL BE A PLACE OF HISTORIC INTEREST TO VIEW FROM OUTSIDE OF THE FENCE.
