NCP PROVIDED IN-DEPTH THEORETICAL AND CLINICAL PROGRAMS FOR LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS TO I) BECOME PSYCHOANALYSTS IN ITS MULTI-YEAR INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM, II) EARN A CERTIFICATE IN PSYCHOANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY IN WORKING WITH ADULTS OR WITH CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS. THE PSYCHOANALYTIC TRAINING INVOLVES THE STUDENT IN CLASSROOM SEMINARS AND SUPERVISED CLINICAL CASES TO GAIN THE SKILLS TO TREAT PATIENTS WITH UNDERLYING ISSUES AND ESP. WITH TREATMENT RESISTANT SITUATIONS FOR WHOM SHORT TERM SOLUTIONS DO NOT PROVIDE RELIEF. THE PSYCHOANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY PROGRAM ALLOWS THE STUDENTS TO BUILD ON THE COURSEWORK TAKEN TO ATTAIN LICENSURE IN THEIR CHOSEN DISCIPLINE THROUGH READING, SEMINARS, AND CONSULTATIVE GROUPS SESSIONS, WHERE THEIR WORK WITH PATIENTS CAN BE DISCUSSED AND EXPLORED IN A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT TO LEARN TO DEEPEN THE TREATMENT. NCP VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES PLAN AND PRODUCE EXTENSION PROGRAMS AND SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS FOR LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCES TO APPLY PSYCHOANALYTIC CONCEPTS TO INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIETY AND EXPAND THE ACCESSIBILITY OF AFFORDABLE PSYCHOANALYTICALLY ORIENTED PROGRAMS WITH FREE OR LOW-FEE REGISTRATIONS FOR STUDENTS AND FOR THOSE WITH EXPRESSED NEED FOR ADJUSTED FEES. LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS ENHANCE THEIR KNOWLEDGE IN THEORY AND PRACTICE BY ENROLLING IN CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS RELEVANT TO THEIR AREAS OF INTERESTS AND THEIR CLINICAL PRACTICE NEEDS, AS WELL MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSE RENEWAL. THE NCP LIBRARY IS A RESOURCE SERVICING STUDENTS, FACULTY AND MEMBERS. IT PROVIDES ACCESS NOT ONLY TO A LARGE COLLECTION OF BOOKS ON THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF PSYCHOANALYSIS AND THE FURTHER ASPECTS OF PSYCHOANALYTIC THINKING, BUT ALSO TO SUBSCRIPTIONS TO MANY OF THE PROFESSIONAL JOURNALS ARE MAINTAINED SO THAT CURRENT SCHOLARLY PAPERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR STUDY AND USE. IN ADDITION, SUBSCRIPTIONS TO THE ELECTRONIC PEPWEB ARCHIVE ARE PROVIDED TO OUR MEMBERS, FACULTY AND STUDENTS SO THAT THEY CAN UTILIZE CURRENT INFORMATION IN THEIR COURSE MATERIALS, CONTINUE LIFELONG LEARNING/STUDY GROUPS AND TO SUPPORT THEIR OWN RESEARCH INTO UNDERSTANDING, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF PATIENTS. SPEARHEADED BY ITS DIVERSITIES AND SOCIO-CULTURAL ISSUES COMMITTEE, NCP IS DEDICATED TO CULTIVATING AN OPEN AND INFORMED LEADERSHIP AND MEMBERSHIP AND COMMITTED TO AN INCLUSIVE CULTURE WHERE DIVERSITY IS VALUED. THE FACULTY AND STUDENTS AND NCP COMMITTEES WORK TO COLLABORATE AND CO-SPONSOR PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE A GREATER AWARENESS OF MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS IN UNDER-RESOURCED POPULATIONS AND TO SUPPORT PROGRAMS THAT INCREASE ACCESS TO SERVICES. COURSES AND WORKSHOPS ARE PLANNED AND PRESENTED TO OUR FACULTY AND STUDENTS, THE GREATER MENTAL HEALTH COMMUNITY IN LOS ANGELES AND THROUGH VIDEO CONFERENCING. THIS TECHNOLOGY FOSTERS DIALOGUE BETWEEN TEACHERS AND AUDIENCES ACROSS THE US. NCP IS EXAMINING ITS ROLE IN PERPETUATING INJUSTICE, RACISM, AND UNCONSCIOUS BIAS AND TAKING STEPS TO RECOGNIZE THESE ASPECTS AND TO BRING GREATER AWARENESS ON HOW TO BE OPEN, CURIOUS AND WELCOMING TOWARD THOSE WITH DIFFERENT LIFE EXPERIENCES.THE 2020-2021 YEAR CONTINUED THE CHALLENGES OF COPING WITH COVID 19. OUR ORGANIZATION WORKED TOGETHER--STAFF, LEADERSHIP, MEMBERS AND STUDENTS--TO MEET THE CASCADING ISSUES THAT AROSE TO DEAL WITH THE PANDEMIC ESPECIALLY HOW TO EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATE WHILE WORKING FROM HOME. WE FACILITATED THE MOVE TO ZOOM TO ALLOW OUR TRAINING PROGRAMS TO GO FORWARD WITHOUT MISSING A SESSION. OUR CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS UTILIZED THE ONLINE PLATFORM AND WE REACHED A WIDE REGIONAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE WITH OVER 3,300 REGISTRANTS INCLUDING BREAKING AN ALL TIME RECORD FOR OUR DIVERSITIES WEEKEND IN SETEMBER 2020.NCP SUPPORTED OUR MEMBERS IN THEIR SWITCH TO SEEING THEIR PATIENTS VIA ZOOM SO THAT DURING THIS TENSE AND ISOLATING TIME THEY COULD CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THERAPEUTIC CARE. NCP PROVIDED TRAININGS, TECH TIPS AND LOWER FEE HIPAA LICENSES AS A GROUP. WE CELEBRATED THE GRADUATION OF 7 PSYCHOANALYSTS AND 10 STUDENTS FROM OUR MULTI-YEAR TRAINING PROGRAMS AND CONTINUED TO ENROLL NEW STUDENTS.WE ASSISTED MEMBERS AND OTHERS IN THE COMMUNITY WHO VOLUNTEERED TO CONNECT, SUPPORT, AND SERVE FRONT LINE RESPONDERS AND CLINICIANS AS THEY DEALT WITH TRAUMA AND NEW CHALLENGES AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC.
