LIBRARY FOUNDATION SD'S SUPPORT FOR PROGRAMS, BOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT HELPED THE LIBRARY BE THE PLACE FOR OPPORTUNITY, DISCOVERY AND INSPIRATION. PROGRAMS SUPPORTED BY LIBRARY FOUNDATION SD DONORS PREPARED LEARNERS OF ALL AGES TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL, THE WORKPLACE AND IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. FROM SUPPORTING ONLINE AND IN-LIBRARY HOMEWORK HELP, TRAINING ON COMPUTER PROGRAMMING THAT SPARKS AN INTEREST IN TECHNOLOGY FIELDS, TO CLASSES ON COMPUTER SKILLS AND WRITING A RESUME, LIBRARY DONORS HELPED ENSURE ACADEMIC AND CAREER SUCCESS.
LIBRARY FOUNDATION SD IS PART OF A COMMUNITY-BASED COALITION LOOKING TO IMPROVE SAN DIEGO'S LIBRARIES AND PARKS THROUGH A BALLOT INITIATIVE. THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION AND ITS PARTNERS ARE GATHERING SIGNATURES OF SAN DIEGO VOTERS TO PLACE THE LIBRARIES AND PARKS INVESTMENT ACT ON THE NOVEMBER 2024 BALLOT. IF PASSED, THE MEASURE WOULD GENERATE AN ADDITIONAL $40 TO $45 MILLION ANNUALLY TO IMPROVE SAN DIEGO LIBRARIES AND PARKS.
LIBRARY FOUNDATION SD FUNDED THE STREAMING SERVICE KANOPY FOR THE SAN DIEGO PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM. THIS SERVICE IS A STREAMING MOVIE SERVICE THAT OFFERS ACCESS TO A LARGE, CURATED CATALOG OF EDUCATIONAL, ENTERTAINING, AND ENRICHING FILMS. IT INCLUDES CONTENT FROM LEADING PRODUCERS SUCH AS PBS, BBC, AND THE GREAT COURSES, AND MANY MORE. LIBRARY PATRONS CAN STREAM CONTENT AT HOME ON A COMPUTER, ANDROID, APPLE, ROKU, AMAZON FIRE OR CHROMECAST DEVICE.
THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION ACTIVELY MARKETS LIBRARY PROGRAMS AND THE IMPORTANCE OF LIBRARY SERVICE TO SUPPORTERS AND POTENTIAL SUPPORTERS, ELECTED LEADERS AND TO LIBRARY USERS. THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION PRODUCES A SERIES OF REGULAR EMAIL NEWSLETTERS TO LIBRARY CARD HOLDERS AND TO LIBRARY DONORS AND SUPPORTERS. THESE PUBLICATIONS MARKET THE VALUE OF LIBRARIES TO SAN DIEGO AND PROMOTE MONTHLY LIBRARY PROGRAMS AND OTHER SERVICES. THE FOUNDATION ALSO COORDINATES ADVOCACY EFFORTS AMONG A COALITION OF THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION, FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY AND THE BOARD OF LIBRARY COMMISSIONERS TO EDUCATE ELECTED LEADERS TO THE POSITIVE IMPACT OF LIBRARIES ON THE COMMUNITY AND THE NEED FOR ADEQUATE PUBLIC SUPPORT.
