TO PROMOTE DEATH WITH DIGNITY LAWS BASED ON OUR MODEL LEGISLATION, THE OREGON DEATH WITH DIGNITY ACT, BOTH TO PROVIDE AN OPTION FOR DYING INDIVIDUALS AND TO STIMULATE NATIONWIDE IMPROVEMENTS IN END-OF-LIFE CARE.

DIGNITY50: DURING THE YEAR ENDING MARCH 31, 2022, DEATH WITH DIGNITY POLITICAL FUND CONTINUED TO PROMOTE THE OREGON LAW AS A MODEL FOR OTHER STATES SEEKING TO PASS DEATH WITH DIGNITY LAWS. WE PROVIDED CONSULTATION AND SUPPORT TO NEW MEXICO, WHO SUCCESSFULLY PASSED DEATH WITH DIGNITY IN IN JUNE, 2021. THERE ARE NOW 11 JURISDICTIONS WITH DEATH WITH DIGNITY LAWS. WE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE LEGAL AND POLITICAL EXPERTISE TO STATE-LEVEL GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS AND STAKEHOLDERS. WE WORKED VERY CLOSELY WITH LAWMAKERS AND LOBBYISTS IN NEW YORK AND MASSACHUSETTS. WE CREATED AN "ADVOCACY TOOLKIT" THAT CAN BE USED AT EVENTS (BOTH PRINT AND DIGITAL), ESTABLISHED ADDITIONAL STATE-LEVEL ORGANIZATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS, CONDUCTED TRAININGS, AND CONTINUED TO PROVIDE ONE-ON-ONE CONSULTATIONS, AS WELL AS MONTHLY COLLABORATIVE MEETINGS TO GRASSROOTS ADVOCATES AND GROUPS IN OHIO, NEW HAMPSHIRE, KANSAS, NEW MEXICO, FLORIDA, ARIZONA, NORTH CAROLINA, MAINE, VERMONT, VIRGINIA, AND GEORGIA. WE PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO GRASSROOTS ADVOCATES IN ARIZONA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, NEW MEXICO, NORTH CAROLINA, AND OHIO.
COMMUNICATION:WE PROMOTED DEATH WITH DIGNITY LAWS AND OTHER END-OF-LIFE CARE ISSUES TO A NATIONAL AUDIENCE, BY SENDING OUT 145 EMAILS TO SUPPORTERS NATIONWIDE, ALL OF WHICH FOCUSED ON PROMOTING DEATH WITH DIGNITY, AND HAD VARIOUS SUB-FOCUSES, INCLUDING TAKING ACTION TO FIGHT FOR AID-IN-DYING LAWS, SHARING STORIES AND SUCCESSES, AND PROVIDING UPDATES TO ADVOCATES AND SUPPORTERS. WE REVAMPED OUR STORYTELLING PROGRAM TO BE MORE INTERACTIVE AND INVOLVED IN SOCIAL MEDIA AND EMAIL CAMPAIGNS, WITH THE BELIEF THAT STORYTELLING POWERS OUR MOVEMENT AND INFORMS MUCH OF THE WORK WE DO. AT THE BEGINNING OF 2022, WE FOCUSED ON OUR EXTERNAL VOICE, AND ENGAGED IN 12 INTERVIEWS TO BE USED FOR ONLINE AND PRINT PUBLICATIONS, WHICH HAS EXPANDED OUR VOICE NATIONWIDE.
