THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO ASSIST NORTHWEST TRIBES TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH STATUS AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF MEMBER TRIBES AND INDIAN PEOPLE IN THEIR DELIVERY OF CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE AND HOLISTIC HEALTH CARE.

-THE NORTHWEST PORTLAND AREA INDIAN HEALTH BOARD (NPAIHB)IS A TRIBAL ADVISORY ORGANIZATION. IT SERVES THE FORTY-THREE FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED TRIBES OF OREGON, WASHINGTON, AND IDAHO. THE NPAIHB WORKS ON INITIATIVES RELATED TO MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH, RESEARCH, DATA, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND RESOURCE COORDINATION. ADDITIONALLY, THE PORTLAND AREA INDIAN HEALTH SERVICE PROVIDES ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE FOR APPROXIMATELY 150,000 AMERICAN INDIAN/ALASKA NATIVE RESIDENTS IN OREGON, WASHINGTON, AND IDAHO. -THE MISSION OF THE NORTHWEST TRIBAL EPIDEMIOLOGY CENTER IS TO COLLABORATE WITH NORTHWEST AMERICAN INDIAN TRIBES TO PROVIDE HEALTH-RELATED RESEARCH, SURVEILLANCE, TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF AMERICAN INDIANS AND ALASKAN NATIVES. -THE ENVIRONMENTAL PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM SUPPORTS NORTHWEST TRIBES BY PROVIDING COMPREHENSIVE ENVIRONMENTAL PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES GROUNDED IN INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE AND WESTERN SCIENCE. -THE NPAIHB HOSTED THE NATIONAL TRIBAL OPIOID SUMMIT AT TULALIP, WASHINGTON FROM AUGUST 22-24, 2023, TO ADDRESS THE INTERSECTION OF COVID 19 AND THE OPIOID CRISIS THROUGHOUT THEIR COMMUNITIES.
