FREEDOM TO THRIVE FREEDOM TO THRIVE IS A NETWORK THAT PARTNERS STRATEGICALLY WITH ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS IN THE UNITED STATES THAT ARE WORKING TOWARDS SAFETY BEYOND POLICING. THROUGH THESE PARTNERSHIPS, WE WORK TO BUILD SAFE COMMUNITIES, SUSTAINABLE ORGANIZATIONS AND THRIVING WORKPLACES FOR YOUTH, WOMEN, BLACK, INDIGENOUS AND PEOPLE OF COLOR THROUGH A PRO BLACK, GENDER AFFIRMING LENS.
TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES POPULAR EDUCATION TOOLS AND CONVENING SPACES TO ADDRESS SAFETY BEYOND POLICING, INCLUDING: FREEDOM CAMPUS, WITH THE GOAL OF MAKING CITIES AND CAMPUSES SAFE FOR MARGINALIZED AND OPPRESSED YOUTH; TRANSFORMATIVE VISIONING, A WEBINAR SERIES ON COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT; AND E-CARCERATION, WHICH HIGHLIGHTS THE INCREASED SURVEILLANCE AND DEPRIVATION OF LIBERTY THROUGH TECHNOLOGY. THE ORGANIZATION PRESENTS TRAININGS IN STRATEGIC ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE ORGANIZATIONS, AND OPERATES THE WE RISE PROGRAM FOR BUILDING LEADERSHIP AND HEALING JUSTICE AMONG WOMEN AND GENDER NON-CONFORMING COMMUNITIES OF COLOR. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SPONSORED UMOJA KIJANA SHUJAA, WHICH IS AN ORGANIZING AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR BLACK YOUTH.
CAMPAIGNS THE ORGANIZATION UNDERTAKES AND SUPPORTS VARIOUS CAMPAIGNS ADDRESSING CRIMMIGRATION-- THE INTERSECTION OF IMMIGRATION AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE POLICING. THESE CAMPAIGNS INCLUDE THE PRISON DIVESTMENT CAMPAIGN, WHICH AIMS TO STOP THE LOBBYING POWER OF THE PRIVATE PRISON INDUSTRY IN CRIMINAL AND IMMIGRATION POLICY; CAMPAIGNS TO DIVEST FROM/DEFUND CARCERAL SYSTEMS AND INVEST IN COMMUNITY SAFETY INITIATIVES; AND IMMIGRATION DEPORTATION DEFENSE OF INDIVIDUALS UNJUSTLY DETAINED AND IN LINE FOR DEPORTATION.
