Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
MEDIA DEVELOPMENTUNITE CONTRACTORS WORKED TO DEVELOP PODCAST CONCEPTS WHICH WERE SHARED WITH MEDIA LEADERS AND OUTLETS. THE SHORT TERM GOAL OF THIS EFFORT WAS TO DEVELOP A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR POPULARIZING THE URGENCY OF ADDRESSING DIVISIVENESS AS A KEY ISSUE IN AND OF ITSELF AND EXPLORING WAYS TO BRING IT TO AWARENESS AND ADDRESS IT INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY.
COMMUNITY BUILDING (INCLUDES NEWSLETTER & SOCIAL MEDIA)UNITE CONTRACTORS PRODUCED A WEEKLY NEWSLETTER THAT WAS DISSEMINATED TO 20K MEMBERS OF THE UNITE COMMUNITY, AND MANAGED CONTENT AND POSTING FOR UNITE'S SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS. FROM THE TIME OF INCORPORATION (JUNE 24, 2021) THROUGH THE END OF THE YEAR, 28 WEEKLY NEWSLETTERS WERE PRODUCED AND DISTRIBUTED TO A 20K+ MEMBER LIST. IN ADDITION, REGULAR POSTS WERE MADE ON UNITE'S SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS: TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, AND FACEBOOK. THE NEWSLETTER CONTENT WAS ALSO POSTED ON THE UNITE WEBSITE.
STRATEGY, CONTENT DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONSUNITE CONTRACTORS BUILT OUT NUMEROUS PROJECTS, AND DEVELOPED FUNDING PROPOSALS AND IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES FOR THESE PROJECTS. ONGOING DEVELOPMENT INCLUDED THE NEWSLETTER, ONLINE SUPPORT GROUPS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT AND DISTRIBUTION THROUGH UNITE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS (SOCIAL MEDIA, OP-EDS, EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS). DURING THE 6-MONTH TIME FRAME FOR THIS FILING, TWO GRANT PROPOSALS WERE SUBMITTED, ONE OF THEM APPROVED (BUT NOT FUNDED UNTIL 2022); A COMMITMENT OF $250K OF IN-KIND SERVICES FROM A MARKETING/BRANDING/COMMUNICATIONS FIRM WAS SECURED; AND PRELIMINARY FRAMEWORKS WERE FINALIZED FOR AN ONLINE COMMUNITY. ONGOING MEETINGS WITH NUMEROUS POTENTIAL FUNDERS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE 6-MONTH REPORTING PERIOD, WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN GRANTS FOR 2022. SHORT AND LONG TERM GOALS ARE TO DEVELOP MATERIALS FOR FUNDRAISING AND TO ADVANCE THE PROGRAMS AND MISSION OF UNITE.
NEWS SERVICE/LETTERUNITE CONTRACTORS BUILT OUT THE FRAMEWORK FOR A NEWS SERVICE THAT WOULD COVER THE WORK OF UNITERS AND EXPOSE THE TACTICS OF DIVIDERS. THE NEWS SERVICE WOULD INCLUDE A UNITY NEWS BEAT AGGREGATOR WEBSITE AND A METHOD TO DISSEMINATE NEWS STORIES TO LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS. WE ALSO CONDUCTED AN ANALYSIS OF BEST-IN-CLASS, MISSION-DRIVEN ONLINE NEWS ORGANIZATIONS AND A STRATEGY DOCUMENT FOR MOVING FORWARD. THE SHORT-TERM GOAL FOR THIS PROGRAM WAS TO PRODUCE A DOCUMENT WITH A PROTOTYPE OF CONTENT SUITABLE FOR SHARING WITH POTENTIAL FUNDERS, TO CONDUCT AN ANALYSIS OF BEST-IN-CLASS, MISSION-DRIVEN ONLINE NEWS ORGANIZATIONS; TO CONDUCT AN ANALYSIS OF MAINSTREAM INFLUENCERS WHO COULD POTENTIALLY PARTNER WITH UNITE; AND TO PRODUCE A STRATEGY DOCUMENT FOR MOVING FORWARD. TWO COMPREHENSIVE REPORTS WERE COMPLETED CONTAINING THIS INFORMATION. THE LONG TERM GOAL WAS TO STRENGTHEN AN ONLINE COMMUNITY OF ADVOCATES FOR PREVENTING VIOLENCE, EASING DIVISIONS AND SOLVING PROBLEMS COLLABORATIVELY. DIGNITY INDEX PROJECTUNITE TEAM DEVELOPED A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND PROPOSAL FOR THE DIGNITY INDEX, A TOOL THAT SCORES PASSAGES THAT APPEAR IN SPEECHES, ARTICLES AND INTERVIEWS AND RATES THE SPEECH ON A SCALE THAT HIGHLIGHTS LANGUAGE OF CONTEMPT TO LANGUAGE OF DIGNITY. THE TOOL WILL BE USED TO RATE POLITICAL SPEECH. ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED PROGRESS ON THE INDEX DEVELOPMENT, AN INITIAL MARKETING PLAN, AND SEVERAL FUNDRAISING PROPOSALS. THE SHORT TERM GOAL WAS TO PLAN A PILOT TEST OF THE INDEX IN A REGIONAL MARKET. THE LONG TERM GOAL WAS TO POPULARIZE THE USE OF THE INDEX IN NATIONAL MEDIA OUTLETS AND USE IN UNITE'S NEWS SERVICE AND WEBSITE, THUS CALLING ATTENTION TO THE LEVEL OF CONTEMPT/DIGNITY IN POLITICAL AND PUBLIC SPEECH, WITH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF MAKING CONTEMPT BACKFIRE.
