MICROSCHOOLS: LAUNCHED 11 K-8TH GRADE MICROSCHOOLS OVER THE COURSE OF THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR. OUR LAUNCH DATE WAS JANUARY 21, 2021. DUE TO TRANSPORTATION CONCERNS, WE HAD TO CLOSE A FEW OF OUR MICROSCHOOLS AND ENDED UP WITH A TOTAL OF 8 MICROSCHOOLS BY THE END OF DECEMBER 2021. WE INITIALLY HIRED 17 LEARNING GUIDES AND DUE TO THE CLOSURE OF A FEW OF OUR MICROSCHOOLS WE ENDED IN 2021 WITH A TOTAL OF 11 LEARNING GUIDES. WE HAD 3 LOCATIONS WITH 2-3 MICROSCHOOLS (BETWEEN 5-10 STUDENTS PER MICROSCHOOL) PER LOCATION WITH 20-30 CHILDREN PER LOCATION.IN JANUARY 2021 WE ENROLLED 13 STUDENTS IN OUR FIRST TWO MICROSCHOOLS AND BY THE END 2021 WE HAD ENROLLED UP TO 42 STUDENTS. THE FOCUS OF OUR MICROSCHOOLS WAS TO CREATE SMALLER LEARNING COMMUNITIES THAT PROVIDED SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS FOR OUR BLACK CHILDREN.


THE NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZED CRIME ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. THIS COLLABORATION CONSISTED OF BLACK MOTHERS FORUM, UNITY COLLECTIVE AND WE RISING ORGANIZATIONS. THE PURPOSE OF THE GRANT WAS TO THINK AND RESEARCH THE POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO PROVIDING CRISIS CARE TO THE HOMELESS, MENTALLY ILL AND OTHER VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES IN LIEU OF CALLING THE POLICE TO DO SO.


SOCIOEMOTIONAL ASSESSMENTS OF MICROSCHOOL STUDENTS AND LEARNING GUIDES TO ASSIST IN MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS OF STUDENTS AND LEARNING GUIDES. THE ASSESSSMENT SHOWED THAT MANY OF OUR LEARNING GUIDES NEEDED ADDITIONAL MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN ORDER TO PROPERLY FACILITATE LEARNING FOR THEIR STUDENTS WHO ALSO WERE IN NEED OF ADDITIONAL MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF THE PANDEMIC.
