ADVANCE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION GOALS IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION AND PROVIDE TOOLS TO HELP ELIMINATE DISCRIMINATION, MANAGE IMPLICIT BIASES IN HIRING AND OPERATIONAL DECISIONS, AND PROMOTE INCLUSIVE POLICIES SO THAT ALL LEVELS OF THE LEGAL PROFESSION CAN BENEFIT FROM DIVERSITY IN RACE, ETHNICITY, CULTURE, SEX, GENDER IDENTITY, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, AND RELIGION.

PROMOTING LEGAL EDUCATION TO DIVERSE GROUPS EVERYWHERE (PLEDGE): UCLI IS WORKING TO MAKE LEGAL EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT VIABLE, ATTRACTIVE, AND ACCESSIBLE TO DIVERSE, UNDERPRIVILEGED, AND UNDERREPRESENTED POPULATIONS STATEWIDE.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: UCLI IS PARTNERING WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS SERVING UTAH'S DIVERSE AND MARGINALIZED POPULATIONS IN ORDER TO STRENGTHEN TRUST IN AND UNDERSTANDING OF UTAH'S COURTS AND JUSTICE SYSTEM, INCREASE THE PROXIMITY BETWEEN LAWYERS AND UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS, AND AMPLIFY ACCESS TO JUSTICE EFFORTS AROUND THE STATE.
ORGANIZATIONAL INCLUSION: UCLI IS DEVELOPING INITIATIVES AIMED AT STRENGTHENING THE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION EFFORTS OF UTAH'S LAW FIRMS, COURTS, AND OTHER LEGAL INSTITUTIONS. UCLI'S CERTIFICATION PROGRAM, IN WHICH 53 LEGAL EMPLOYERS ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED, PROVIDES LEGAL EMPLOYERS AND EMPLOYEES WITH RESOURCES AND TRAINING TO HELP THEM GENERATE INCLUSIVE WORK ENVIRONMENTS, SATISFY PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CLIENT DIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS, AND INCREASE THEIR ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS THROUGH DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION.
