THE SENIOR CENTER OFFERS ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE AND ADDRESS NEEDS RESULTING FROM PHYSICAL DISABILITY, SOCIAL ISOLATION, INADEQUATE NUTRITION, AND THE LACK OF OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN MEANINGFUL ACTIVITY OR TO LEARN NEW SKILLS, WHICH ARE ISSUES THAT OLDER PEOPLE WITH VERY LITTLE INCOME OR WHO ARE UNHOUSED FACE ON A REGULAR BASIS.

THE PIKE MARKET FOOD BANK (PMFB) SERVES INDIVIDUALS IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE, SUPPLEMENTING FOOD SECURITY FOR A DIVERSE POPULATION OF PEOPLE WHO LIVE ON VERY LITTLE INCOME AND/OR ARE UNHOUSED. PMFB SERVES PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, BUT A MAJORITY OF CLIENTS ARE SENIORS. THE FOOD BANK OFFERS GROCERIES (FRESH, CANNED & FROZEN), READY-TO-EAT FOODS FOR PEOPLE WITHOUT ACCESS TO A KITCHEN, AND DELIVERIES TO PEOPLE WHO CANNOT TRAVEL TO PMFB.
THE PIKE MARKET SENIOR CENTER OFFERS A RANGE OF SERVICES TO PROMOTE HEALTHY AGING. OVER 90% OF THE SENIORS ARE LOW-INCOME AND AROUND A THIRD ARE UNHOUSED. CLIENTS CAN ACCESS ONE-ON-ONE SOCIAL WORK ASSISTANCE AND A RANGE OF HEALTH-PROMOTING AND SOCIALIZING ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK.
