HEAD START - WE OFFER A HIGH-QUALITY KINDERGARTEN READINESS PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM TO 639 LOW-INCOME CHILDREN IN WASATCH, JUAB AND UTAH COUNTIES IN THE STATE OF UTAH. WE PROVIDE EARLY HEAD START SERVICES TO 12 PREGNANT WOMEN AND CHILDREN BIRTH TO AGE THREE IN JUAB COUNTY WHO ARE LOW-INCOME OR HAVE A DISABILITY. WE PARTNER WITH PARENTS TO ASSIST CHILDREN DEVELOP THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN SCHOOL. WE PROVIDE QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION TO ALL CHILDREN ENROLLED AS WELL AS COMPREHENSIVE CHILD AND FAMILY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES. OUR COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM AND SERVICES SUPPORT CHILDREN'S LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT FOR FUTURE SUCCESS IN SCHOOL. THIS PROGRAM IS FUNDED BY A FEDERAL HEAD START GRANT.
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - THE PURPOSE OF EARLY CHILDHOOD TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS TO PREPARE AND CONTINUOUSLY SUPPORT STAFF TO WORK WITH AND ON BEHALF OF YOUNG CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO STAY ABREAST THE LATEST RESERACH AND BEST PRACTICES TO IMPROVE STAFF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, PRACTICE, AND SERVICE DELIVERY.
USDA CHILD CARE FOOD PROGRAM - MEALTIME AT HEAD START IS AN EXTENSION OF THE CLASSROOM WHEREIN CHILDREN LEARN GROSS AND FINE MOTOR SKILLS, TABLE MANNERS, SOCIAL SKILLS, AND MANY OTHER SELF-HELP SKILLS TO PREPARE THEM FOR SCHOOL. EACH DAY, CHILDREN ARE OFFERED A NOURISHING MEAL AND SNACK THAT IS PREPARED AND SERVED ON-SITE. MENUS AND RECIPES ARE CREATED BY A REGISTERED DIETITIAN AND FOLLOW THE CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM MEAL PATTERN. MEALS SERVED AT HEAD START ARE PLANNED TO BE COLORFUL, DELICIOUS, AND NUTRITIOUS IN ORDER TO FOSTER THE APPROPRIATE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHILDREN. THE MENU OFFERS A VARIETY OF FRESH AND FROZEN FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, LEAN MEATS AND DAIRY, AND WHOLE GRAIN BREADS.
