Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

ECONOMIC RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS - LUDWIG INSTITUTE FOR SHARED ECONOMIC PROSPERITY ("LISEP") CONDUCTED ECONOMIC RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS TO STUDY THE FINANCIAL WELL-BEING OF LOWER- AND MIDDLE-INCOME AMERICANS: THE PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH WAS TO IDENTIFY GAPS IN CURRENT ECONOMIC STATISTICS AND TO PROPOSE AND PUBLISH ALTERNATIVE METRICS THAT PROVIDE A MORE NUANCED VIEW OF ECONOMIC TRENDS, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON THE DAILY REALITIES THAT THIS POPULATION FACES.

PUBLISHING AND DISSEMINATING ECONOMIC RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS: THE MAIN GOAL IS TO ALLOW FOR THE ECONOMIC RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS TO BE WIDELY AVAILABLE TO THOUGHT LEADERS, ECONOMIC EXPERTS, POLICYMAKERS, PUBLIC OFFICIALS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE FORMS OF MEDIA WHERE THE FINDINGS WOULD BE INCLUDE ARTICLES, NEWSLETTERS, AND LISEP'S WEBSITE AS WELL AS NEWS MEDIA, ACADEMIC JOURNALS, PODCASTS, ETC. LISEP HOPES THAT THE PUBLICATION OF NEW STATISTICS WILL LEAD TO TRACTION AMONGST RELEVANT AUDIENCES SO THEY WILL BETTER UNDERSTAND THE ECONOMIC PREDICAMENT OF LOW- AND MIDDLE-INCOME AMERICANS.

PROVIDE GRANTS TO NONPROFIT INSTITUTIONS THAT HELP LOW- AND MIDDLE-INCOME PEOPLE SUCCEED IN LIFE. LISEP SOUGHT TO GRANT FUNDING TO A COUPLE OF NONPROFIT INSTITUTIONS THAT COULD MEANINGFULLY HELP PEOPLE IN NEED OF A LOW-INTEREST SMALL BUSINESS LOAN OR WHO NEEDED GAP FUNDING TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH A SKILLS TRAINING COURSE AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE IS TO GAIN THE SKILLS FOR BETTER-PAYING EMPLOYMENT BUT SOME STUDENTS CANNOT GO THROUGH WITH THE TRAINING IF THEY DON'T HAVE FUNDING FOR FOOD AND BILLS, WHICH IS WHAT THE LISEP FUNDING IS INTENDED FOR.
