NEW MEXICO INDEPENDENT POWER PRODUCERS' REPRESENTATIVES PARTICIPATED IN THE NEW MEXICO PUBLIC REGULATION COMMISSION'S INTEGRATED RESOURCE PLANNING PROCESS. THE IRP PROCESS IS ONGOING AND WILL ALLOW NEW MEXICO INDEPENDENT POWER PRODUCERS' MEMBERS TO ADVOCATE FOR COMPETITIVE AND TRANSPARENT ENERGY PROCUREMENT. INCREASED COMPETITION AND TRANSPARENCY BENEFITS NEW MEXICO CONSUMERS BY PUTTING DOWNWARD PRESSURE ON ELECTRIC PRICES, SHIFTING MARKET RISK AWAY FROM CONSUMERS AND TOWARDS SHAREHOLDERS, AND PROVIDING LOWER CARBON ALTERNATIVES TO PNM'S (THE LARGEST UTILITY IN NEW MEXICO) EXISTING ELECTRIC RESOURCES.ADDITIONALLY, NEW MEXICO INDEPENDENT POWER PRODUCERS' MEMBERS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS AT THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REGULATED UTILITY COMMISSIONERS (NARUC) IN WASHINGTON DC,AND HOSTED MEETINGS OF WESTERN ENERGY STAKEHOLDERS IN SANTA FE, ALBUQUEQUE, WASHINGTON DC AND SAN DIEGO.
