PBA IS A COMMUNITY LED NON-PROFIT MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION WITH MEMBERS AND A BOARD OF DIRECTORS REPRESENTING LICENSED PROFESSIONALS, SALONS, MANUFACTURERS, DISTRIBUTORS, SCHOOLS AND STUDENTS.

SIGNATURE EVENTS -THE PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY ASSOCIATION (PBA) RETURNED TO PRODUCING LIVE EVENTS IN 2021 FOLLOWING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. PBA IN A JOINT VENTURE WITH OUR ITALIAN PARTNER BOLOGNA FIERE, S.P.A, PRODUCED COSMOPROF NORTH AMERICA (CPNA) IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. CPNA IS THE LARGEST BEAUTY BUSINESS TRADE SHOW IN THE UNITED STATES, BRINGING BEAUTY INDUSTRY BUYERS TOGETHER WITH MANUFACTURERS AND BRANDS FROM ACROSS THE WORLD. PBA TYPICALLY PRODUCES THE INTERNATIONAL SALON & SPA EXPO (ISSE) IN LONG BEACH, CA EACH YEAR, HOWEVER IN 2021 AFTER RESCHEDULING THE EVENT DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS, THE LIVE EVENT WAS CANCELLED AND ISSE WAS PRESENTED VIRTUALLY THROUGH A TWO-DAY SERIES OF (CONT'D ON SCH. O) EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS AND VIRTUAL SHOPPING TARGETED TO LICENSED PROFESSIONALS ACROSS THE U.S. BEACON, PBA'S ELITE STUDENT PROGRAM WHICH ENGAGES 150 STUDENT COSMETOLOGISTS FOR SPECIALIZED BUSINESS TRAINING WAS HELD BI-MONTHLY IN A VIRTUAL FORMAT IN 2021. THE NORTH AMERICAN HAIRSTYLING AWARDS (NAHA) CEREMONY, WHICH CELEBRATES THE WINNERS OF PBA'S PHOTOGRAPHIC BEAUTY COMPETITION AND THE PBA EXECUTIVE SUMMIT, ENGAGING 300+ TOP EXECUTIVES TOGETHER FOR SESSIONS ON TECHNOLOGY, LEADERSHIP AND THE FUTURE WERE BOTH SUCCESSFUL LIVE EVENTS HELD IN THE LATER HALF OF THE YEAR.
MEMBERSHIP VALUE - EVENTS AND EDUCATION:ALTHOUGH WE NEVER ANTICIPATED THE PANDEMIC WOULD CONTINUE TO IMPACT OUR LIVES WELL INTO 2021, WE NOW KNOW THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. BECAUSE OF THIS, PBA TRANSITIONED OUR IN-PERSON TRADESHOW EVENT, THE INTERNATIONAL SALON & SPA EXPO TO A FULLY DIGITAL EXPERIENCE IN MARCH 2021. ATTENDEES AND SPONSORS DEEMED THE EVENT THE BEST DIGITAL EVENT THEY HAD ATTENDED. IT FEATURED 44 LIVE CLASSES/WEBINARS PLUS 76 ON DEMAND CLASSES FOR A TOTAL OF 120 CLASSES THAT INCLUDED EVERYTHING FROM TECHNICAL TIPS TO BUSINESS. ATTENDEES/MEMBERS LOVED THE FLEXIBILITY OF KNOWING THEY COULD REWATCH THE CLASSES ON DEMAND, PLUS WE WERE ABLE TO PACKAGE CONTENT WITH DIGITAL DOWNLOADS WHICH ADDED (CONT'D ON SCH. O) MORE VALUE THAN THE TRADITIONAL IN PERSON CLASSES.WE HOSTED OUR FIRST BUSINESS OF 1 SUMMIT IN SEPTEMBER WITH 22 LICENSED PROFESSIONALS WHO ENJOYED A FULL DAY OF BUSINESS PROGRAMMING INCLUDING BUDGETING AND FINANCIAL PLANNING, SOCIAL MEDIA AND MARKETING, BUSINESS INSURANCE, ALTERNATIVE STREAMS OF INCOME AND MORE. MEMBERSHIP VALUE - BUSINESS RESOURCES:BY FOCUSING ON DEVELOPING AND OFFERING BUSINESS BUILDING RESOURCES, WE WERE BETTER ABLE TO REACH OUR MEMBERSHIP BY EXTENDING TARGETED BENEFITS THROUGH OUR INDUSTRY PARTNERS, CURATED MEMBERSHIP LEVELS AND A MORE ENGAGING MEMBER EXPERIENCE. GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS - PBA'S GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS TEAM WORKS TO INFLUENCE LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION. ADVOCATING ON BEHALF OF OUR MEMBERSHIP, OUR EFFORTS INCLUDE EDUCATION REGARDING THE IMPORTANCE OF OCCUPATIONAL LICENSING FOR THE PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY INDUSTRY, BUSINESS GROWTH, AND MANAGING STATE AND FEDERAL ISSUES IMPACTING DAY TO DAY SALON OPERATIONS. PBA'S GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS TEAM ALSO MANAGES ADVOCACY PROGRAMS THAT INCLUDE VOLUNTEER OUTREACH EFFORTS WITHIN OUR INDUSTRY. THE 111,791 ADVOCATES IN OUR PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY ADVOCATE (CONT'D ON SCH. OUR TEAM IS PROUD TO SERVE ON THE COUNCIL OF STATE GOVERNMENTS' COSMETOLOGY AND BARBERING INTERSTATE COMPACT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GROUP FUNDED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DOD).
