THE CAR COALITION (SHORT FOR "CONSUMER ACCESS TO AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR") IS A MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION WHICH BRINGS TOGETHER A WIDE RANGE OF AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY STAKEHOLDERS TO EDUCATE POLICYMAKERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON ISSUES OF KEY IMPORTANCE TO THE AMERICAN AUTOMOTIVE CONSUMER. IN PARTICULAR, THE CAR COALITION IS COMMITTED TO THE PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION OF CONSUMER CHOICE AND ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE VEHICLE THROUGH PROMOTION OF MARKETPLACE COMPETITION. THE CAR COALITION'S KEY PRINCIPLES ARE: SAFETY FIRST; EMPOWER CONSUMER CHOICES; FOSTER INDUSTRY COMPETITION; AND KEEP CONSUMER COSTS LOW.

CAR COALITION MEMBER REPRESENTATIVES AND COALITION PROFESSIONAL STAFF HAVE HELD DIRECT MEETINGS WITH MEMBERS OF THE LEADERSHIP IN THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND U.S. SENATE. SPECIFICALLY, THESE MEETINGS INVOLVED KEY COMMITTEES OF JURISDICTION SUCH AS: THE SENATE COMMERCE COMMITTEE; HOUSE ENERGY AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE; THE HOUSE TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE; HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE AND THE WAYS & MEANS COMMITTEE. ADDITIONALLY, COALITION MEMBERS AND STAFF MET WITH OFFICIALS FROM THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION.
THE CAR COALITION COMMISSIONED A YOUGOV POLL THAT SOUGHT RESPONSES FROM AMERICAN CONSUMERS CONCERNING THEIR VIEWS ON THE AVAILABILITY OF AUTO PART CHOICES AND VEHICLE DATA ACCESS (AMONG OTHER ISSUES).
THE CAR COALITION INITIATED ITS OWN ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION CONCERNING DESIGN PATENTS. THE COALITION ALSO PARTNERED WITH OTHER AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY PRINT AND DIGITAL MEDIA WHICH RAN AT TRADE SHOWS AND ANNUAL AUTO INDUSTRY EVENTS.
