SUPPORT AND PROMOTE VOLUNTEER ADVOCACY FOR ABUSED & NEGLECTED FOSTER CHILDREN IN THE FIRST JUDICIAL DIST. THE MISSION OF CASA, FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT IS TO SUPPORT COURT-APPOINTED VOLUNTEER ADVOCACY SO THAT ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN IN SANTA FE, RIO ARRIBA, AND LOS ALAMOS COUNTIES CAN BE SAFE, ESTABLISH A PERMANENT HOME AND HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO THRIVE.

- 134 FOSTER CHILDREN IN 84 CHILD WELFARE CASES HAD A CASA ADVOCATE, REPRESENTING 92% OF THE CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE IN THE FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT.- WE HELD TWO 30 HOUR CASA VOLUNTEER ADVOCATE CLASSES, TRAINING 15 NEW CASA VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES.- ADDITIONALLY, CASA FIRST ORGANIZED AND HELD 82 IN-SERVICE HOURS OF TRAINING, OF WHICH DIVERSITY AND CULTURAL COMPETENCY IS A LARGE COMPONENT.- EVEN IF THEY DID NOT HAVE A CASA ADVOCATE, CASA FIRST MONITERED EVERY CHILD WELFARE CASE, ATTENDED EVERY HEARING, AND FILLED OUT AN APPLCIATION FOR CVRC, 'CRIME VICTIM'S REPATRIATION COMMISSION' FUNDING FOR EACH CHILD IN FOSTER CARE.- CASA FIRST VOLUNTEER ADOVCATES CONTRIBUTED OVER 3,200 HOURS DURING THE YEAR, WHICH INCLUDED FILING 146 COURT REPORTS, AND ATTENDING 162 HEARINGS ON BEHALF OF FOSTER CHILDREN.OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN SERVED:- IN OVER 90% OF THEIR CASES, OUR CASAS REPORT THEIR CHILD OR FOSTER YOUTH WAS SAFER DUE TO THEIR ADVOCACY.- IN 87% OF CASES, CASAS ACTIVELY ADVOCATED FOR THE MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS OF THEIR CHILD.- IN 94% OF CASES, CASAS REPORT THAT THEIR CHILD HAS A CARING ADULT IN THEIR LIFE.- 57 FOSTER CHILDREN WITH A CASA ADVOCATE SAW THEIR CASE CLOSE.- 4 FOSTER CHIDLREN WERE REUNITED WITH THEIR FAMILIES.- 38 FOSTER CHILDREN WERE ADOPTED.- 5 FOSTER CHILDREN AGED OUT.- 10 FOSTER CHILDREN WERE PLACED WITH A PERMANENT GAURDIAN.- 1 FOSTER CHILD WAS DECLARED POWER OF ATTORNEY
