Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
CASA ENSURE THE CHILDREN IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM ARE HEARD IN WHAT THEIR CHOICES ARE FOR THEIR FUTURE. ADVOCATES WILL STAND ON BEHALF OF THE CHILD IN COURT, LETTING THE JUDGE KNOW WHERE THEIR CASA CHILD WANTS TO LIVE, WHO THEY WANT TO SEE AND HOW THE CHILDREN ARE DOING. THE ADVOCATE ENSURES THE CHILDREN ARE HAVING ALL THEIR PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS MET. THEY STAND IN ALL THE GAPS, IN SMALL WAYS AND BIG WAYS FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE. THE ADVOCATES ENSURE THE CHILDREN REMAIN CONNECTED TO THEIR WIDER FAMILIES, WHEN IT IS POSSIBLE, AND PARTICULARLY SIBLINGS WHO ARE SO OFTEN SPLIT UP ON REMOVAL. AN ADVOCATE IS THE CONSTANT PERSON WHO STANDS BY THESE CHILDREN THROUGH THEIR REMOVAL TO, HOPEFULLY, A PERMANENT PLACEMENT WHICH AT THE EARLIEST IS 12 MONTHS. AN ADVOCATE IS A FIERCE FRIEND, A HAND TO HOLD AND A SHOULDER TO CRY ON. THEY ARE A CHAMPION FOR A CHILD WHO HAS SUFFERED DEEP TRAUMA AND LOSS. THESE CHILDREN NEED AND DESERVE TO BE HEARD, TO KNOW THEY HAVE CHOICES. THEIR ADVOCATE MAKES THAT HAPPEN.
