EDUCATION AND OUTREACH: LAUNCHED THE VEGAN CARIBBEAN KICKSTART WEBSITE AND PROGRAM TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF A PLANT-BASED DIET, INCLUDING HOW DIET CAN IMPACT OUR HEALTH, THE PLANET AND FARMED ANIMALS. THIS FREE ONLINE PLEDGE PROGRAM INCLUDES OVER 90 CARIBBEAN RECIPES THAT WERE DEVELOPED BY RETHINK YOUR FOOD STAFF, WITH CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE INGREDIENTS THAT ARE READILY ACCESSIBLE IN CARIBBEAN COUNTRIES AND IN CARIBBEAN COMMUNITIES IN NORTH AMERICA. IT ALSO INCLUDES SAMPLE PLANT-BASED MEAL PLANS FOR 21 DAYS AND AN EMAIL SERIES. PARTICIPANTS COMPLETE A QUESTIONNAIRE WHEN THEY REGISTER ONLINE. PARTICIPANTS HAVE THE OPTION TO COMPLETE A POST SURVEY. WITHIN THE 1ST 8 MONTHS, WE RECEIVED OVER 9,395 SIGNUPS. APPROXIMATELY 80 PERCENT IDENTIFY AS PEOPLE OF CARIBBEAN HERITAGE AND APPROXIMATELY 75 PERCENT OF SURVEY PARTICIPANTS PLEDGE TO CONTINUE THEIR JOURNEY AFTER COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM ALSO SERVES TO BUILD PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR FUTURE PROJECTS TO PROMOTE INSTITUTIONAL CHANGE TO HELP CREATE A MORE SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEM.
