Part 3 - Line 4a
FSA OPERATES FOOD SECURITY GROUPS AT SPONSOR SITES SO THAT LOW-INCOME FAMILIES HAVE ENOUGH FOOD, LEARN ABOUT HEALTHY LIFESTYLES, FORM UP- LIFTING COMMUNITY, AND HAVE OPPORTUNITY FOR SPIRITUAL EXPRESSION. FROM JULY 1, 2021 TO JUNE 30, 2022 FSA DISTRIBUTED 178,217 POUNDS OF FOOD. BECAUSE OF COVID RESTRICTIONS ON IN-PERSON GROUPS, RELUCTANTLY, FSA HAD TO TRANSITION TO WALK-UP FOOD HANDOUTS. FSA STEPPED UP AND WENT TO FOUR NEW LOW-INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS IN ADDITION TO OUR REGULAR SITES FOR A TOTAL OF NINE LOCATIONS. AT OUR REGULAR SITES, UNDUPLICATED COUNTS: 672 FAMILIES CONSISTING OF 1,590 INDIVIDUALS, 562 OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS OR 35% WERE CHILDREN. AT THE FOUR NEW TEMPORARY LOCATIONS, DUPICATED COUNTS 649 FAMILIES THAT INCLUDED 7,781 INDIVIDUALS IN THOSE FAMILIES, 3,092 OR 40% WERE CHILDREN.
TRAINING NEW AFFILIATES - BECAUSE FORMING NEW COMMUNITY BASED FOOD SECURITY GROUPS WAS NOT FEASIBLE DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC, FSA DID NOT TRAIN ANY NEW AFFILIATES. HOWEVER, FSA IS ACTIVELY SPEAKING WITH POTENTIAL NEW AFFILIATES AND IS PLANNING MORE TRAINING SESSIONS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
NETWORKING AFFILIATES - AN IMPORTANT PART OF FSAS MISSION IS TO FACILITATE NETWORKING AMONG AFFILIATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY WHO OPERATE THE FOOD SECURITY GROUP MODEL. THESE NETWORKING ACTIVITIES WERE OF NECESSITY CURTAILED DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC. DURING THE FIRST HALF OF 2022, FSAS TENTH ANNIVERSARY YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION PLANNED THE FIRST-EVER, IN-PERSON GATHERING OF AFFILIATES FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THE GATHERING IS PLANNED FOR ATLANTA.
