Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
FOODFINDER IS A FREE FOOD PANTRY LOCATOR USING BOTH A WEBSITE AND MOBILE APPS TO HELP FOOD INSECURE PEOPLE FIND THEIR CLOSEST FREE FOOD QUICKLY AND PRIVATELY. FOODFINDER ALSO PROVIDES LIVE AND TECHNOLOGY-DRIVEN ASSISTANCE TO FOOD INSECURE PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT SERVE THIS POPULATION IN THE US.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
FOODFINDER'S COVID-19 RELIEF EFFORTS - USING OUR FOOD PANTRY LOCATOR TO CONNECT THOSE FACING COVID-RELATED FOOD INSECURITY OVER THE COURSE OF 2020, FOODFINDER'S WEBSITE AND MOBILE APP WERE USED BY 323,580 PEOPLE ACROSS MORE THAN 9,000 DIFFERENT U.S. TOWNS & CITIES, MOST OF WHOM SOUGHT EMERGENCY FOOD AID IN THE WAKE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. GIVEN THE EXTREME ECONOMIC HARDSHIPS UNEXPECTEDLY FORCED ON MILLIONS OF AMERICANS DUE TO LOCKDOWNS BEGINNING IN MARCH OF 2020, FOODFINDER SERVED IN 2020 NEARLY 2.5 TIMES THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT IT DID IN 2019. ON AVERAGE, OUR FOOD PANTRY LOCATOR WAS USED BY 886 AMERICANS EVERY SINGLE DAY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. AS COVID-19 CONTINUED TO SPREAD, OUR ALL-VIRTUAL FOOD PANTRY LOCATOR WAS UNIQUELY SUITED TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF AMERICAN FAMILIES IMPACTED BY THIS CRISIS WHO WERE NO LONGER SURE WHERE THEIR NEXT MEAL WOULD COME FROM. USAGE OF OUR FOOD PANTRY LOCATOR SATISFIED 5% OF ALL DOMESTIC GOOGLE SEARCH DEMAND FOR FOOD PANTRY ASSISTANCE IN 2020. BRAND NEW FOOD PANTRIES AND FOOD GIVEAWAYS WERE POPPING UP ACROSS THE COUNTRY, ALL WHILE NEW STYLES OF FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS WERE BEING EMPLOYED TO PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING. FOODFINDER'S COVID-19 RELIEF EFFORT WAS THE PANDEMIC RESPONSE INITIATIVE THAT LET STRUGGLING FAMILIES KNOW ABOUT ALL OF THESE CHANGES, AND AS A RESULT, WE CONNECTED MORE PEOPLE TO FOOD IN 10 MONTHS DURING THE PANDEMIC THAN IN THE PREVIOUS 5 YEARS OF OUR OPERATIONS COMBINED. OVER THE COURSE OF 2020, FOODFINDER CONTINUED ITS UTILIZATION OF PAID SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN TO LEVERAGE FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM AS PLATFORMS TO REACH AND SERVE OUR TWO TARGET AUDIENCES: FOOD INSECURE FAMILIES AND ADVOCATES OF THOSE FAMILIES SUCH AS TEACHERS, COUNSELORS, AND SOCIAL WORKERS. BY CONTINUING TO REALIZE NEW EFFICIENCIES AFTER BUILDING ON THE INSIGHTS GAINED FROM OUR TEST CAMPAIGN OF SOCIAL MEDIA ADVERTISING IN 2019, THIS CAMPAIGN DRAMATICALLY INCREASED OUR ONLINE FOOTPRINT, AND AS A RESULT, INCREASED OUR OVERALL IMPACT ACROSS AMERICA. FOR EVERY DOLLAR INVESTED INTO THIS CAMPAIGN, FOODFINDER WAS ABLE TO REACH AND SERVE APPROXIMATELY 20 PEOPLE, RESULTING IN A TOTAL IMPACT OF 114,056 ADDITIONAL USERS CONNECTED TO FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM INFORMATION DURING 2020.
EMERSON COLLECTIVE - API-ENABLED GETFOODUSA DEVELOPMENT FOODFINDER'S PARTNERSHIP WITH THE EMERSON COLLECTIVE FORMALLY LASTED FIVE MONTHS FROM MAY THROUGH SEPTEMBER OF 2020 TO HELP POWER THEIR GETFOODUSA FOOD PANTRY LOCATOR, A SERVICE SPECIALLY CREATED TO ADDRESS THE SEVERE NEED DURING THE PANDEMIC. EMERSON'S TEAM WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING THEIR OWN VERSION OF FOODFINDER SINCE THEY RESEARCHED THE NEED FOR A CENTRALIZED, WELL-MANAGED DIRECTORY OF FOOD ASSISTANCE INFORMATION. ABOUT ONE MONTH INTO DEVELOPMENT, THEY CAME ACROSS OUR PLATFORM AND RECOGNIZED THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO REINVENT ANYTHING GIVEN THE WORK FOODFINDER HAD DONE OVER THE PAST SIX YEARS. SO WITH AN API PARTNERSHIP IN THE SAME FORMAT AS OUR ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT WITH NO KID HUNGRY, FOODFINDER LICENSED OUR NATIONAL DATABASE OF FOOD PANTRIES TO POPULATE EMERSON COLLECTIVE'S HELP-FINDING GETFOODUSA PLATFORM. THIS ENGAGEMENT SERVED THOUSANDS OF FOLKS NATIONWIDE AND EARNED 50,000 IN REVENUE TO REINVEST BACK INTO FOODFINDER'S MISSION AND OUR CORE PLATFORM.
