Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

THEARI NURSE REFRESHER COURSESTHEARI NURSE REFRESHER COURSES WERE DEVELOPED TO MEET COLORADO STATE BOARD OF NURSING REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSURE IN COLORADO. COMPLETING THE COURSE WILL ALLOW PREVIOUSLY LICENSED REGISTERED NURSES (RN) AND LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSES (LPN) TO UPDATE AND ENHANCE NURSING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS, DEVELOP CONFIDENCE, RENEW THEIR LICENSE, AND RE-ENTER THE WORKFORCE. THE ONLINE FORMAT OF THE COURSE COMBINED WITH ROLLING ADMISSION ALLOWED STUDENTS TO COMPLETE THE COURSE AT THEIR OWN PACE ANYWHERE, AT ANY TIME. WE ALSO OFFERED VIRTUAL SIMULATION FOR CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL COURSES FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION.ON MAY 27, 2022, THE THEARI BOARD OF DIRECTORS VOTED TO DISSOLVE THE ORGANIZATION DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY. THE LAST FEW YEARS HAVE BEEN FISCALLY CHALLENGING AND EFFORTS TO ESTABLISH LONG-TERM SUSTAINABLE FUNDING HAVE BEEN INEFFECTIVE. EFFECTIVE JULY 2022, THEARI TRANSITIONED THE NURSE REFRESHER PROGRAMS TO THE COLORADO CENTER FOR NURSING EXCELLENCE. THE CENTER WAS FORMALLY OPENED IN 2003 WITH A MISSION TO BUILD THE NURSING WORKFORCE DURING A SEVERE NURSING SHORTAGE. KRIS WENZEL, THE ORIGINAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CCAHEC, AND FOUNDER OF THE NURSE REFRESHER PROGRAMS, WAS AN ORIGINAL CHAMPION OF THE CENTER AND THEIR WORK. FOUR KEY THEARI STAFF MEMBERS ALSO TRANSITIONED TO THE CENTER TO SUPPORT THE CONTINUATION OF THESE PROGRAMS. STARTING IN JUNE 2022, THEARI PROVIDED THE CENTER WITH INITIAL SUPPORT FUNDS, AND BY SEPTEMBER 2022 HAD PROVIDED A TOTAL OF $47,104 IN FUNDING TO SUPPORT ONGOING SUCCESS. WE ARE HONORED AND GRATEFUL THAT THESE INNOVATIVE AND CRITICAL PROGRAMS WILL LIVE ON AT THE CENTER.
