ON FEBRUARY 8 AND 9, WE PERFORMED THE FIRST HOUR OF THE SHOW FOR TWO SOLD OUT AUDIENCES AT THE NEW OHIO THEATRE AS PART OF ITS "NOW-IN-PROCESS" PERFORMANCE SERIES. WE BEGAN REHEARSING FOR THIS ENGAGEMENT ON JANUARY 26. THE PERFORMANCES WERE FULLY STAGED AND DESIGNED, WITH SIGNIFICANT INVESTMENT PARTICULARLY IN TECHNICAL ELEMENTS, NOTABLY SOUND SYSTEM. TOTAL ATTENDANCE WAS 150 IN PERSON WITH A HANDFUL OF OTHERS WATCHING ONLINE VIA LIVESTREAM. ZOETROPE IS AN ORIGINAL PLAY IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY JAVIER ANTONIO GONZLEZ AND PRODUCED BY CABORCA. IT RAN FOR 20 PERFORMANCES OVER 4 WEEKENDS AT ABRONS ARTS CENTER FROM SEPTEMBER 14-OCTOBER 8. REHEARSALS BEGAN AUGUST 19. AUXILIARY TO THE PRODUCTION, CABORCA ALSO PRODUCED A PANEL DISCUSSION IN COLLABORATION WITH ABRONS AND CENTRO THE CENTER FOR PUERTO RICAN STUDIES AT HUNTER COLLEGE, AND A MULTI-SITE COMMEMORATION OF EL GRITO DE LARES IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CLEMENTE SOTO VLEZ CULTURE AND EDUCATION CENTER, LOISAIDA CENTER, AND LA SALA DE PEPE. THE COMBINATION OF BOTH THE SHOWINGS OF RUBALEE AND THE RUN OF ZOETROPE MADE 2023 THE LARGEST PROGRAMMING YEAR IN CABORCA'S HISTORY AS AN ORGANIZATION.
