COURTLAND, ALABAMA AND THE SURROUNDING AREA SUFFERED FROM A LACK OF BROADBAND AVAILIBILITY. COURTLAND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL ("CDC"), WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE LOCAL COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENT, WAS ABLE TO SECURE A GRANT IN THE ANOUNT OF 165,158 FROM THE APPALACIAN REGIONAL COMMISSION. CDC ENTERED INTO A CONTRACT WITH TRAVELLER MULTIMEDIA, LLC, OF HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA TO CONSTRUCT AND INITIATE A BROADBAND NETWORK IN COURTLAND, ALABAMA. THE WORK BEGAN IN 2020 AND WAS COMPLETED IN EARLY 2021. THE SYSTEM IS UP AND OPERATING SUCCESSFULLY FOR LOCAL RESIDENCES, BUSINESSES AND GOVERNMENTS.
