STEM SANTA FE ENVISIONS A WORLD FILLED WITH ANALYTICAL CITIZENS EXPLORING COMPLEX ISSUES FOR THE BETTERMENT OF SOCIETY.

SUMMER STEM CIRCLES (AKA SUMMER CAMPS)STEM SANTA FE PROVIDES WEEK-LONG STEM SUMMER CAMPS FOR GIRLS, BOYS, AND NON-BINARYSTUDENTS IN GRADES 7-12. FROM JUNE 6 TO JULY 28, 2023, WE HELD SEVEN CAMPS WITH THEUNIQUE THEMES OF AVIATION AND AEROSPACE, BUILDING A LASER HARP, 3D DESIGN AND PRINTING, PATTERNS: THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND MATH, BUILDING A SOLAR TRACKER, AND STEM PATHWAYS FOR ALL. WE ALSO OFFERED TWO ONE-DAY WORKSHOPS: SEISMIC LEARNING AND BE A BIOLOGIST. CAMPS WERE HELD AT SANTA FE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, THE SANTA FE JET CENTER, NORTHERN NEW MEXICO COLLEGE IN ESPANOLA, NAMBE PUEBLO, AND SAN ILDEFONSO PUEBLO. WE HAD 152 STUDENTS REGISTER THIS YEAR, NEARLY DOUBLING REGISTRATION IN 2022, AND DELIVERED A TOTAL OF 4,560 CONTACT HOURS.
STEM SCAFFOLD SANTA FE AT MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLSSTEM SANTA FE DELIVERS IN-SCHOOL STEM/STEAM ENRICHMENT PROJECTS DESIGNED TO BEIMPLEMENTED WITH 1.5 HOURS WEEKLY INSTRUCTION OVER EIGHT WEEKS. THE FIVE PROJECTS ALIGN WITH NATIONAL ADVANCEMENT VIA INDIVIDUAL DETERMINATION AND NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS AND BUILD STUDENTS' PROGRAMMING, ENGINEERING, MATH, ANALYSIS, AND TEAMWORK SKILLS THROUGH THEMES THAT INCLUDE SUN TRACKER, LASER HARP, SMART GREENHOUSE, HEART DRUM, AND ONE-LANE BRIDGE. WE SERVED CAPITAL HIGH SCHOOL, MILAGRO MIDDLE SCHOOL, ESPANOLA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL, AND THE SANTA FE INDIAN SCHOOL. IN THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR, 265 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM, FOR A TOTAL OF 3,180 CONTACT HOURS.
STEM PATHWAYS FOR GIRLS (SPFG)STEM SANTA FE OFFERS AN INSPIRING MONTHLY STEM PROGRAM DEDICATED TO GIRLS AND NON-BINARY STUDENTS IN 5TH-8TH GRADES. THE PROGRAM KICKED OFF ON NOV. 5, 2022, WITH A DAY-LONG CONFERENCE ALLOWING THE STUDENTS TO EXPAND THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF STEM CAREERS AND EDUCA??ONAL REQUIREMENTS (KEYNOTE SPEECH,HANDS-ON STEM WORKSHOPS LED BY WOMEN STEM PROFESSIONALS, AND STEAM FAIR WITH LOCAL). SPFG EXTENDS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR WITH MONTHLY TWO-HOUR, PROJECT-BASED WORKSHOPS LED BY WOMEN STEM PROFESSIONALS. OVERALL, SPFG DELIVERED 1,512 CONTACT HOURS.
