HAMPTON UAW'S MISSION IS TO SERVE A PUBLIC PURPOSE AND PROVIDE AND PROMOTE AFFORDABLE HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES TO LOW AND MODERATE INCOME DISABLED OR SENIOR CITIZENS IN NEW JERSEY. SPECIFICALLY, HAMPTON UAW WILL CONTINUE TO OPERATE THE HOUSING PROJECT PURSUANT TO A STATE STATUTE ALLOWING FOR THE INCORPORATION OF NON-PROFIT CORPORATIONS TO DEVELOP AND OPERATE AFFORDABLE HOUSING.

HAMPTON MANORS UAW URBAN RENEWAL HOUSING CORP. PROVIDES AFFORDABLE AND SUBSIDIZED HOUSING TO INDIVIDUALS BASED ON THEIR NEED AND THEIR MEETING OF CERTAIN OTHER SPECIFIED STANDARDS. HAMPTON MANORS UAW URBAN RENEWAL HOUSING CORP. LIMITS THE RENTAL OF THOSE APARTMENTS TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO QUALIFY FOR THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAMS THAT THE PROPERTY IS A PART OF THROUGH DEED RESTRICTIONS AND FINANCIAL AGREEMENTS WITH HUD AND HMFA, AND THEREFORE SHALL REQUIRE INCOME QUALIFICATION FOR THOSE PROGRAMS AS REQUIRED BY FEDERAL AND STATE LAW. GENERALLY, BECAUSE PUBLIC HOUSING IS LIMITED TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS, LOCAL AUTHORITIES DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY BASED UPON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: (1) ANNUAL GROSS INCOME; (2) WHETHER A PERSON QUALIFIES AS ELDERLY, A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY, OR AS A FAMILY; AND (3) U.S. CITIZENSHIP OR ELIGIBLE IMMIGRATION STATUS.
