WE SUPPORT AFRICAN-DESCENT MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS BUILD TRUST AND COLLABORATE ACROSS COMMUNITIES TO SOLVE OUR COMMON CHALLENGES AND BE AN INFLUENTIAL, CENTRAL VOICE FOR THE AFRICAN DIASPORA IN WASHINGTON STATE. THE CORE SERVICES WE OFFER IS OUTREACH AND TRANSLATION.

IMMIGRANT RELIEF: WE NEARLY TRIPLED THE NUMBER OF OUTREACH VOLUNTEERS PROVIDING OUTREACH FOR UNDOCUMENTED AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS IN OUR THIRD ROUND OF IMMIGRANT RELIEF WHICH RESULTED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THE IMMIGRANT RELIEF PROGRAM IN WASHINGTON STATE DOUBLING THE RATE OF AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS REACHED AND REACHING AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS IN EVERY COUNTRY IN THE CONTINENT. WE IMPLEMENTED THE ONLY FORMAL TRAINING FROM THE COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND DEVELOPED A STRUCTURED PROGRAM THAT CAN BE EASILY DUPLICATED FOR SIMILAR IMMIGRANT OUTREACH PROGRAMS AND RECEIVED ACCOLADES FROM THE FUNDERS FOR OUR LEVEL OF ORGANIZATION AND RESPONSIVENESS TO OUR MOST VULNERABLE COMMUNITY MEMBERS.


OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDING COVID CLINICS, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, CLIMATE JUSTICE, IMMIGRANT RIGHTS, RENTAL ASSISTANCE, AND LEADERSHIP SUMMIT.


YOUTH- AFRICAN, CARIBBEAN & AFRICAN AMERICAN DESCENT YOUTH: YOUTH LEARNED PRESENTATION SKILLS, WORKING TOGETHER AS A GROUP, WROTE AND ACTED IN COVID-19 VIDEOS AND ANTI-SUBSTANCE ABUSE VIDEOS. THE YOUTH ALSO PARTICIPATED IN THE CULTURE & HERITAGE PROGRAM, SELECTED TOPICS OF CONCERN TO SHARE WITH ADULTS AT OUR ANNUAL SUMMIT.


CULTURAL & HERITAGE: WE PILOTED A HYBRID AFRICAN & AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL PROGRAM AT RAINIER VALLEY LEADERSHIP, WHERE WE TAUGHT ABOUT HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT AFRICA AND AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSIC. OUR CULTURE EXPERTS TAUGHT AFRICAN RECIPES, CULTURAL DANCES, AND AFRICAN GAMES TO THE YOUTH AND ADULT ATTENDEES. ATTENDEES WOULD SAMPLE AFRICAN SNACKS AND EXPRESSED JOY IN LEARNING ABOUT SO MANY POSITIVE ASPECTS OF AFRICAN AND AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND CULTURE.
