PRICING CARBON DIALOGUES. THE PRICING CARBON DIALOGUES PROVIDE A FORUM FOR REGULARLY SCHEDULED DISCUSSIONS ON POTENTIAL CARBON PRICING MECHANISMS, WHICH WILL ARGUABLY BE NECESSARY TO CONTROL GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS AT A LEVEL CLOSE TO WHAT IS NEEDED TO PREVENT THE WORST CONSEQUENCES OF CLIMATE CHANGE. PARTICIPANTS REPRESENT A BROAD RANGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL, BUSINESS, LABOR, SOCIAL JUSTICE, RELIGIOUS AND OTHER ISSUE-ORIENTED ORGANIZATIONS, AS WELL AS BOTH CONSERVATIVE AND PROGRESSIVE THINK TANKS. THE DIALOGUES ARE COORDINATED BY PCI AND GUIDED BY A STEERING COMMITTEE THAT REPRESENTS THE DIVERSITY OF THE 120 OR SO ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR NETWORK. WITH A STRICT CONFIDENTIALITY PROTOCOL, THESE INVITATION-ONLY DIALOGUES PROVIDE A COMFORTABLE SETTING FOR CANDID, OFTEN REVEALING DISCUSSIONS THAT MEET COMMON OBJECTIVES FOR EQUITY, POLITICAL VIABILITY, AND COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER MEASURES SUCH AS GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS AND INVESTMENTS IN GREEN INCENTIVES AND INFRASTRUCTURE. THE MEETINGS FEATURE PANEL PRESENTATIONS BY LEADING SCHOLARS AND POLICY EXPERTS AND AMPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLEGIAL DISCUSSIONS, INFORMATION SHARING, AND NETWORKING. IN 2022 PRICING CARBON DIALOGUES OCCURRED ON MARCH 22, MAY 19, JULY 28, OCTOBER 3, AND DECEMBER 1. DUE TO ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC CONCERNS, THESE DIALOGUES WERE HELD VIRTUALLY. THEY WERE CO-HOSTED BY THE CENTER FOR CLIMATE AND ENERGY SOLUTIONS, A KEY ORGANIZATION IN OUR NETWORK WHO PROVIDED THEIR ONLINE PLATFORM.
