PLACEMAKING PROGRAM:THE PLACEMAKING PROGRAM SEEKS TO GIVE EVERYONE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHAPE AND IMPROVE THE PUBLIC SPACES THEY USE EVERYDAY THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS, TRAINING, CONVENING, AND RESEARCH.IN 2023, PROJECT FOR PUBLIC SPACES BUILT UPON ITS DECADES OF EXPERIENCE WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FOUNDATIONS AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAMS BY CONTINUING THE COMMUNITY PLACEMAKING GRANTS INITIATIVE. WITH SUPPORT FROM GENERAL MOTORS AND THE WALTON FAMILY FOUNDATION, THIS INITIATIVE AIMS TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AS WELL AS CAPACITY BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES, TO PLACEMAKING NONPROFITS IMPROVING ACCESS TO PUBLIC SPACES AROUND THE UNITED STATES.


MARKET CITIES:THE MARKET CITIES PROGRAM SEEKS TO IMPROVE PUBLIC POLICY AND ON-THE-GROUND PRACTICE REGARDING PUBLIC MARKET SYSTEMS AROUND THE WORLD. IN 2023, MARKET CITIES CONTINUES TO PUBLISH A BI-WEEKLY E-NEWSLETTER AND HELD AN ONLINE TRAINING COURSE, TITLED HOW TO CREATE SUCCESSFUL MARKETS. THE PROGRAM PRODUCED A CONFERENCE IN TORONTO TO CONVENE MARKET PROFESSIONALS IN JUNE, AND LAUNCHED A NEW MARKET CITIES NETWORK TO CONNECT INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS. ADDITIONALLY, THE MARKET CITIES TEAM PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO A MARKET IN LEXINGTON, KY.
