THE MISSION OF PENNFUTURE IS TO LEAD THE TRANSITION TO A CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY IN PENNSYLVANIA AND BEYOND. PENNFUTURE IS PROTECTING OUR AIR, WATER AND LAND, AND EMPOWERING CITIZENS TO BUILD SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.

CLIMATE AND ENERGY: PENNFUTURE CONTINUED ITS WORK ON CLEAN ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUES, PARTICULARLY TO DEFEND THE STATES ENTRANCE INTO THE REGIONAL GREENHOUSE GAS INITIATIVE. WORK INCLUDED DEFENDING STATE CLIMATE REGULATIONS IN COURT, REMOVING BARRIERS TO SOLAR ENERGY DEPLOYMENT, PROMOTING AND ADVANCING OPPORTUNITIES TO INCREASE ENERGY EFFICIENCY, AND PROMOTING PRO-CLEAN ENERGY STATE AND FEDERAL STRATEGIES TO REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS. PENNFUTURE ALSO INITIATED NEW EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AROUND THE IMPACT OF BITCOIN MINING ON CLEAN AIR AND CLIMATE CHANGE AS WELL AS ON ADVANCING STATE ELECTRIC VEHICLE INFRASTRUCTURE.
CLEAN WATER: PENNFUTURE HAS CONTINUED ITS LONGSTANDING EFFORTS TO PROTECT WATER QUALITY IN THE MAJOR WATER BASINS OF PENNSYLVANIA BY PURSUING LITIGATION, ENGAGING IN THE REGULATORY PROCESS, MONITORING ACTIVITIES THAT IMPACT WATER QUALITY, AND EXECUTING A CIVIC ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY. IN THE LAST YEAR, PENNFUTURE HAS PURSUED LEGAL ACTIONS TO SUPPORT STREAM DESIGNATIONS AND REDUCE STORMWATER RUN-OFF INTO THE DELAWARE RIVER. IT'S SUPPORTING POLICIES TO MEET STATE OBLIGATIONS UNDER THE CHESAPEAKE BAY TMDL, INCLUDING THE WIP PROCESS. PENNFUTURE HAS ALSO EXPANDED WORK INTO THE OHIO RIVER BASIN, INCLUDING REGULATORY POLICY UNDER ORSANCO AND INDUSTRIAL SOURCES OF POLLUTION. PENNFUTURE HAS SUBMITTED NUMEROUS COMMENT LETTERS TO MUNICIPALITIES, PA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, AND THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION.
